At Lilly, the work is demanding because patients are waiting. We unite caring with discovery to help make life better for people around the world, knowing that every decision, every detail, and every day matters. Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, our over 50,000 employees around the globe take on complex challenges to discover and deliver life-changing medicines, strengthen how health is understood and managed, and support the communities we serve. This is hard, urgent, selfless work-but it's work worth doing. If you're driven by purpose and ready to bring your best to work that truly matters for patients, we invite you to join us.

Position Brand Description:

The Global Facilities Delivery (GFD) Organization, part of Corporate Engineering, delivers new and renovated capital assets around the world. Our mission is accomplished through a highly leveraged organization of design, construction and qualification contractors.

Many of the assets delivered focus on manufacturing medical innovations and delivering innovative solutions to patients. Some of the assets delivered support an expansion in supply of existing medicines.

Key Objectives/Deliverables

  • Build, lead, and continuously develop high-performing project controls organizations responsible for delivering business-critical capital programs exceeding $1 billion. Recruit, onboard, coach, and retain diverse teams of Lilly and external professionals while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Ensure project controls personnel operate as an integrated team focused on shared business outcomes rather than functional silos.
  • Serve as a strategic leader within the project leadership team, translating enterprise and project objectives into actionable project controls strategies. Connect day-to-day execution with broader business goals, ensuring capital investments deliver the required asset capability, capacity, and business value while meeting commitments for safety, cost, schedule, quality, and compliance.
  • Direct all aspects of project controls across the full project lifecycle, from conceptual planning through operational qualification and project closeout. Establish and maintain cost, schedule, resource, risk, change management, forecasting, and cash flow processes that enable effective decision-making, performance management, and successful delivery of mega-capital projects.
  • Champion the implementation and sustained application of enterprise project controls standards, business processes, governance requirements, and digital solutions. Drive consistency, scalability, and transparency across projects and the broader capital portfolio by ensuring alignment with Lilly project delivery methodologies, financial controls, reporting standards, and integrated business systems.
  • Engage confidently with senior project, site, and corporate leadership to provide objective insight, recommendations, and strategic guidance. Lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders across Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Finance, Operations, Quality, and Project Management to achieve project and portfolio objectives.
  • Provide independent oversight of project financial performance, including cost management, forecasting, contract strategy, change management, risk management, payment validation, and portfolio reporting. Ensure compliance with Lilly financial policies, internal controls, and governance requirements while protecting project value and supporting informed business decisions.
  • Establish organizational capability through talent development, succession planning, mentoring, and performance management. Develop current and future project controls leaders capable of supporting Lilly's growing capital portfolio and advancing project controls maturity across the enterprise.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Economics, or a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics).
  • 12+ years of project controls experience on large-scale industrial, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, energy, infrastructure, or capital construction projects.
  • Expert-level proficiency in cost management, planning and scheduling, forecasting, change management, and project risk management for capital projects exceeding $1 billion.
  • Demonstrated success leading project controls functions within complex, multi-billion-dollar capital programs.
  • Willingness to relocate to a project site and travel domestically and internationally as required.

Additional Preferences:

  • Professional certification such as MRICS, CCP, PSP, EVP, PMP, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with enterprise project controls systems, including SAP, Oracle Unifier, Primavera P6, Safran Risk, Power BI, and related platforms.
  • Advanced knowledge of estimating, cost management, forecasting, planning and scheduling, contract management, change management, and risk management.
  • Proven ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing project controls teams supporting major capital programs.
  • Demonstrated success influencing and leading cross-functional teams in complex project environments.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to connect project execution to business and portfolio objectives.
  • Executive presence and strong communication skills, including the ability to engage effectively with senior leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Experience implementing enterprise standards, governance frameworks, business processes, and digital solutions across projects and portfolios.
