Job description

EPI Power is hiring an Electrical Assistant Project Manager to join our team! The Assistant Project Manager collaborates with the Project Manager to profitably manage a small project or a specific scope of a larger project. This role will also manage the administrative and field construction activities on their assigned project.


This role requires the ability to work 6 days per week, Monday - Saturday.

What You'll Do:

  • Be involved in developing BIM (building information modeling) application and Project BIM Execution Plan (BEP)
  • Understand contract terms and obligations to ensure work in progress is within scope
  • Manage construction documents, drawings, requests for information (RFI) and submittals
  • Prepare inspections, compliance audits and the non-conformance log
  • Manage material and equipment delivery status and project logs (i.e. buyouts, subcontractor material status reports, submittals, RFIs)
  • Assist in the preconstruction, project planning, and buyout process
  • Create and manage scopes of work to be included in subcontracts and/or purchase order agreements
  • Approve subcontractor and vendor pay applications
  • Assist in completion of monthly project status reports (MPSR), owner billings, and financial risk assessments
  • Ensure subcontract agreements and amendments are executed
  • Track and negotiate subcontractor requests for change
  • Utilize virtual design tools to assist with project coordination
  • Facilitate regular project meetings; record and distribute meeting minutes as needed
  • Manage closeout information, punch list items, as-built drawings, and warranty process
  • Facilitate dispute resolution among subcontractors, vendors, architects and owners
  • Identify and propose value engineering and scope reduction opportunities
  • Support with mentoring and providing development opportunities for team members
  • Assist with identifying, developing, and closing out owner and subcontractor change orders
  • Assist with documenting field conditions and potential impacts to cost or schedule
  • Support project safety initiatives and compliance with company and site safety requirements
  • Assist with reviewing productivity and schedule progress to support project reporting and coordination


What We're Looking For:

  • Experience:
    • 3+ years of experience in construction project management
    • Experience supporting projects executed under GMP (Guaranteed Maximum Price) contract structures, including change management, cost tracking, and scope administration, is an asset.
    • Experience on data center, mission-critical, industrial, or other large complex electrical projects is strongly preferred
    • An industry-related college degree is required; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
    • Knowledge and application of Lean principles
  • Skills:
    • Project management skills and commercial construction knowledge
    • Ability to support schedule-driven execution in a fast-track construction environment
    • Strong negotiation and relationship building skills
