About Jerritt Canyon
The Jerritt Canyon deposit was discovered in 1972, and the first gold production from the property occurred in 1981. The Jerritt Canyon property contains 30,821 hectares of mining claims located in the mining-friendly state of Nevada. First Majestic acquired the Jerritt Canyon Gold Mine from Sprott Mining Inc. on April 30, 2021. In May 2023, operations were suspended to prioritize exploration and technical studies. Jerritt Canyon is now entering a new phase of evaluation and planning, requiring substantial technical support to advance the work necessary for a potential future restart of operations.
The Opportunity
The Project Controls Coordinator supports the planning, scheduling, cost tracking, reporting, and performance monitoring of mining projects. This role works closely with project managers, engineering teams, procurement, construction, and operations personnel to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. The coordinator helps maintain project controls systems, prepares reports, tracks key performance indicators (KPIs), and assists with forecasting and change management activities for mining capital projects, sustaining projects, or site infrastructure programs.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing and maintaining integrated project schedules using Microsoft Project.
  • Monitor project progress against approved schedules and milestones.
  • Coordinate schedule updates with engineering, procurement, construction, and operations teams.
  • Identify schedule risks, delays, and potential impacts to project delivery.
  • Support short-term and long-term mine project planning activities.
  • Track project expenditures, commitments, and accruals.
  • Assist with budget development and cost forecasting.
  • Maintain cost reports and earned value tracking metrics.
  • Analyze variances between planned and actual costs and provide recommendations.
  • Support invoice verification and contractor progress evaluations.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly project controls reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Maintain project documentation, logs, and records.
  • Generate dashboards, KPIs, progress curves, and performance summaries.
  • Ensure project data integrity within project management systems.
  • Support management of project scope changes and trend tracking.
  • Assist in evaluating impacts of change orders on cost and schedule.
  • Maintain change management registers and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate with project managers, site supervisors, engineers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide project controls updates.
  • Support procurement and contract administration activities as needed.
  • Ensure alignment between field execution and project plans.
  • Support adherence to company policies, mining regulations, and safety standards.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and participate in site safety initiatives.
  • Ensure project controls processes comply with internal governance requirements.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Mining Engineering or related field.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in project controls, project coordination, construction, or mining operations.
  • Experience supporting mining, heavy industrial, construction, or infrastructure projects preferred.
  • Familiarity with cost tracking, scheduling, forecasting, and reporting processes.
  • Proficiency with: Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, SAP, Oracle.
  • Experience working in remote site or field environments is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Combination of office and mining site environments.
  • May require travel to remote mining operations.
  • Ability to work in field conditions and adhere to site safety requirements.
