Summary
About the Position: Serves as a senior inspector responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing the accomplishment of onsite construction inspections and related activities for a variety of civil works navigation and flood control projects in an assigned geographic area.
One vacancy will be located in Lafayette, LA with the Lafayette Area Office and one vacancy will be located in New Orleans, LA with the New Orleans Area Office.

Duties
Help

• Assist in contract inspections and inspect approved shop drawings.
• Provide field measurements and computations to review contractor work.
• Engage in the surveillance and inspection of construction projects.
• Review inspection logs and reports to ensure payment computations prepare by the inspection personnel is accurate and adequate.
• Foster communication between customers, vendors, and contractors.
• Ensure adherence to safety program require by construction regulations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes at least two of the following: 1) Providing field measurements or computations; OR 2) Performing inspections on a variety of construction operations; OR 3) Ensuring that all work is completed in accordance with plans and specifications; OR 4) Conducting inspection of completed work, making recommendations as to acceptance or rejection; OR 5) Enforcing industry or safety standards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent. For the GS-09 you must have 52 weeks at the GS-08 level.
With regards to time-in-grade validation, if you held a position other than a GS pay plan, be sure your resume includes the pay plan and the salary you earned during the assignment. Without this information, your time-in-grade validation may not be able to be verified and will result in your not meeting the time-grade requirement for this vacancy.
