About the Role

The Industrial Control System (ICS) Automation Consultant is responsible for the implementation of control systems and DCS/PLC/SCADA programming. This includes a working knowledge of Electrical, Instrumentation, and Industrial Control Systems/IT - specializing in design, development, programming, integration, troubleshooting, commissioning, start-up, and optimization of control systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program and configure PLC, HMI, DCS and SCADA systems.
  • Design, configuration, integration, and implementation of automated equipment.
  • Develop software and hardware design specifications.
  • Design, write, test and document PLC and HMI software.
  • Create Control Narratives, Logic Diagrams, Cause & Effect Diagrams, and Network Diagrams.
  • Develop and execute control system validation/testing protocols.
  • Troubleshoot, test, and start-up control systems onsite.
  • Perform QA/QC Testing of Control Panels in our Panel Shop.
  • Participate in jobsite and shop visits as required by project scope and department and/or project meetings.
  • Consult with clients to conceptualize and deliver success.
  • Interact with project managers, project team leads, other discipline leads, clients, contractors and other third parties.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering degree from an accredited university, or commensurate experience. Automation System training/certification a plus.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience designing and programming control systems with emphasis on PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems is preferred.
  • Experience with Ignition Software highly desired. Inductive Automation Ignition Core Certification Preferred; Gold Certification a Plus.
  • Familiarity with common control system documents, such as P&IDs, I/O Lists, and C&Es.
  • Experience with start-up and commissioning of automation systems.
  • Experience with control system networking technologies and PC networking technologies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a TWIC card.
  • Ability to partner with clients, vendors, and other team members to deliver projects.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, teamwork and leadership skills.
