Project Controls Manager


Location: Plaquemine, LA | Savannah, GA | Riceboro, GA

Job Type: 12-Month Contract (Strong Potential for Extension/Renewal)


Our client, a leading industrial manufacturing organization, is seeking an experienced Project Controls Manager to lead project controls across a portfolio of major capital projects. This is a long-term contract opportunity for a seasoned project controls professional with expertise in cost estimating, scheduling, forecasting, earned value management, and project performance reporting.

The successful candidate will oversee a team of schedulers, cost engineers, and project controls professionals while partnering closely with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Project Management to ensure successful execution from project planning through commissioning and project close-out.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all project controls functions across multiple capital projects.
  • Develop and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS).
  • Prepare and manage capital cost estimates throughout all phases of project development.
  • Develop, maintain, and control integrated CPM schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Establish project budgets, cost forecasts, and funding baselines.
  • Administer Earned Value Management (EVM) processes, including CPI, SPI, EAC, and ETC reporting.
  • Generate executive dashboards, project performance reports, and forecasting updates.
  • Partner with Procurement to integrate procurement milestones, commitments, and actual costs into project schedules and cost baselines.
  • Support Project Definition Reports (PDRs), change management activities, and quantitative cost and schedule risk assessments.
  • Track engineering and construction progress, identify cost and schedule variances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Establish project controls standards, reporting procedures, and document management processes.
  • Support commissioning, project close-out, final cost reporting, and lessons learned.
  • Recruit, mentor, and lead a team of project controls professionals.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • 12+ years of project controls experience supporting capital projects.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing schedulers, cost engineers, or project controls teams.
  • Demonstrated experience with:
  • Capital cost estimating
  • Cost control and forecasting
  • CPM scheduling
  • Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Budget management
  • Change management
  • Project performance reporting
  • Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Excel.
  • SAP experience is preferred.
