Job description

Job TitleProject ManagerLocation:On-site; Baton RougeFLSA ClassificationExempt Job Description:Orbital Engineering, Inc. is currently seeking a Project Manager to support an Owner Facility in Baton Rouge, LA. The position requires direct petrochemical experience, preferably in a consulting environment, and well-rounded expertise in the oil & gas, refining and chemical industry. Orbital is evaluating candidates based upon their project management experience, technical knowledge, field experience, and engineering design skill sets.Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the execution of design activities for assigned projects, through both self-execution and as leader of project team.
  • Function as Project Lead on specific projects as required. Schedule, organize and direct other engineers, designers and subcontractors in the completion of activities.
  • Prepare, or supervise the preparation of single or multidiscipline engineering proposals including development of scopes of work, project schedules and cost estimates.
  • Prepare, review and/or check engineering calculations, designs, drawings and other project documents related to this specific discipline on projects as required.
  • Develop, maintain and upgrade technical standards/specifications to be used on specific projects, as well as centralized design basis and historical references.
  • Complete all tasks in accordance with design and project execution procedures and guidelines as set forth in corporate Quality Management System. As a Senior Level Engineer, direct and provide technical guidance to junior engineers within the department.
  • Assist in the development of standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed within the department.
  • Provide enhanced customer support as a technical liaison, and support regional business development initiatives as a technical recourse.

Minimum Requirements
  • A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in petrochemical environments (particularly oil & gas, chemical and refining) is required.
  • Successful experience in leadership roles managing engineering and design teams in a consulting engineering environment is preferred.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Project management experience including understanding and use of project management and project control principles and tools is required.
  • Candidates should have a thorough understanding and aptitude in the use of current computer software including general office products, design and business enterprise software.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering discipline is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of Project Management Experience is required.
  • Project Management Training and/or PMP Certification a plus.

Salary Range:

$130,000 - $180,000 annually (based on experience, qualifications, and location)
