Job description

APM Terminals
The Project Requirements Manager supports the delivery of the Port Elizabeth Upgrade Project by facilitating and embedding requirements management best practices, particularly in the areas of requirement identification, capture, verification & validation, and requirement control systems. The role acts as the administrator and process owner for the project's requirements management tool (e.g., Relatics), ensuring seamless collaboration across project disciplines and clear traceability between project requirements and deliverables.
This role is instrumental in ensuring the project is executed in line with customer and stakeholder needs, through structured processes, traceable documentation, and continuous assurance of design and execution quality.
The Port Elizabeth Upgrade Project
APM Terminals and the Port of New York and New Jersey have recently reached an agreement to extend the lease for APM Terminals Elizabeth through 2062, enabling significant long-term infrastructure investments that will enhance capacity, improve transport velocity, create jobs, and strengthen the regional economy. As part of this commitment, APM Terminals will invest substantially in upgrading its 345-acre facility, including enhancing cargo-handling capabilities and ensuring the replacement and ongoing maintenance of all wharf and berth structures. These efforts align with the Port Authority's Port Master Plan 2050, which anticipates cargo volumes could double or even triple by mid-century. Looking ahead, APM Terminals Elizabeth envisions a larger, more efficient, and future-ready container terminal, with planned upgrades focused on optimizing terminal layout, electrifying container handling equipment, and modernizing container berths to support long-term growth.
Appetizer: At APM Terminals, a global leader in port and terminal operations, we enable global trade and drive sustainable growth. What drives us forward is a mindset of always improving - observing how work happens, identifying what creates value, and removing what gets in the way. We constantly look for smarter, simpler, and safer ways of operating. If you thrive in environments where people value learning and are committed to continuously improve daily operations, join us and be apart of our journey.
What We Can Offer: At APMT Terminals, we foster a dynamic learning and training culture that empowers our employees to excel. Our commitment to improvement is driven by Lean principles, ensuring that every team member has the opportunity to develop their skills and advance their careers. Experience a diverse, multinational workplace where your operational insights directly influence how we work.
  • Gain exposure to a high-profile, large-scale infrastructure upgrade project with direct impact on port capacity and performance
  • Work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment across engineering, construction, IT, and project controls teams
  • Access ongoing professional development in systems engineering, project management, and digital tools
  • Benefit from a balanced, structured work environment focused on operational excellence and sustainable delivery

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own and drive the implementation of requirements management practices across the Port Elizabeth Upgrade Project
  • Administer and maintain the project's requirements management system (e.g., Relatics), ensuring data integrity, configuration, and user adoption
  • Facilitate the capture, alignment, and traceability of requirements across stakeholders, ensuring clear linkage to deliverables, risks, and changes
  • Lead the development and maintenance of the Requirements Management Plan in alignment with APM Terminals standards
  • Coordinate verification and validation (V&V) processes to ensure project outputs meet defined requirements and stakeholder expectations
  • Develop dashboards, traceability matrices, and reporting insights to provide clear visibility to senior stakeholders
  • Guide teams on systems engineering principles and ensure adherence to governance, change control, and data quality standards

What We Are Looking For:
Continuous improvement mindset: we are looking for someone who brings a strong mindset of continuous improvement - someone who is naturally curious, committed to solving problems at the root, and driven to make things better every day
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related discipline; PMP or INCOSE certification preferred
  • Minimum 3-7 years project management or project controls experience within large infrastructure or industrial capital projects.
  • Strong knowledge of requirements management tools (e.g., Relatics) and familiarity with EDMS platforms (PMWeb, Aconex), Primavera P6, and SharePoint
  • Advanced analytical and reporting capabilities using tools such as Excel or Power BI, with a high attention to detail and structured thinking
  • Proven ability to operate in multidisciplinary, matrixed project environments and effectively facilitate collaboration across diverse teams

Location: Elizabeth, NJ (M-F)
Salary: $85K - $100K
