SEL (Social Emotional Learning) Teacher
 


Job Summary:

The Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Teacher is responsible for developing, delivering, and supporting direct instruction and school-wide programs that foster students' emotional regulation, self-awareness, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making (CASEL core competencies). Working in collaboration with classroom teachers, school counselors, administrators, and families, the SEL Teacher implements trauma-informed, evidence-based practices to create a positive, safe, and inclusive school culture.
 

Primary Responsibilities:

Direct Instruction & Student Support

  • Design and deliver explicit SEL lessons and Tier 1 classroom instruction tailored to student developmental stages.
  • Facilitate targeted Tier 2 and Tier 3 small-group or individualized interventions for students requiring additional behavioral, emotional, or social support.
  • Teach actionable strategies for emotional regulation, stress management, conflict resolution, empathy, and positive peer interaction.
  • Partner with school teams (MTSS, PBIS, Special Education) to develop and support behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and individual student support goals.
    1st - 6th grade students, lessons designed to reduce challenging behaviors.
  • Promote social & academic skills.
  • Enhance wellness & mindfulness.
  • Facilitate restorative practices & PBIS.

Located 15 miles north of metropolitan Cincinnati, the Winton Woods City School District serves approximately 4,500 students from the three neighboring communities of Greenhills, Forest Park and northern Springfield Township. Winton Woods City Schools serves students and their families in the communities of Forest Park, Greenhills and Springfield Township and is an open enrollment district.
Both Winton Woods Intermediate School (grades 5-6) and Winton Woods Middle School (grades 7-8) are now New Tech Network schools, with a focus on project-based learning. The middle school offers math and foreign language classes for high school credit, advanced classes in science and language arts, elective engineering courses that introduce students to technology and robotics, and many sports and extra-curricular clubs. Our fifth and sixth grade building offers strong academics and a variety of fine arts optionsband, orchestra, choir and visual arts, with many extra-curricular activities and clubs.
Winton Woods High School is fully accredited by Advanced Ed and is a full member of the Southern Regional Educational Board (SREB) High Schools That Work (HSTW) school improvement network. Every student on the main campus who is enrolled in College Prep, Honors or Advanced Placement courses is attached to the Academy of Global Studies (AGS) or the New Tech Academy (NTA). 
The district offers 22 competitive varsity sports, as well as club sports opportunities that begin in elementary school. The district added crew (rowing) and lacrosse to its high school sports offerings. Chorus, band and orchestra are offered beginning in fifth grade, and all students in grades 1-6 participate in visual or performing arts courses. The district is recognized throughout the region for its outstanding music offerings and has earned regional, state and international honors for its choir, band, orchestra and art programs.
