Position Overview

Are you ready to move beyond standard design and lead the creation of environments that shape the future of learning? We are seeking a Project Manager to steer the design and delivery of high-impact K-12 educational projects. In this role, you aren't just managing a budget; you are the primary architect of the client experience, transforming pedagogical visions into functional, inspiring physical spaces. This is a mission-critical position for a leader who thrives at the intersection of complex project management and community-focused design.

Joining our team means entering a collaborative studio culture that prizes autonomy and professional impact. We empower our project leaders to take full ownership of their work while providing the resources of a premier architectural firm. Here, you will find a platform where your leadership directly influences the local community, backed by a firm that supports your licensure, professional growth, and work-life harmony through a flexible, results-oriented remote structure.

Core Responsibilities

  • Visionary Project Leadership: Architect the project roadmap for multiple K-12 initiatives, steering them from initial concept through final construction and occupancy.

  • Strategic Client Management: Act as the authoritative point of contact for educators, school administrators, and community stakeholders, ensuring their educational goals are translated into the built environment.

  • Multidisciplinary Orchestration: Lead and integrate cross-functional teams of designers, engineers, and consultants to ensure technical precision and design excellence.

  • Financial & Operational Stewardship: Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and fee structures while drafting high-level proposals and contracts.

  • Technical Compliance: Ensure all designs exceed building codes, educational standards, and sustainability benchmarks (LEED/CHPS), maintaining the highest level of QA/QC throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Mentorship & Culture: Cultivate the next generation of talent by providing guidance to junior staff, fostering an environment of continuous learning and architectural innovation.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Professional Degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) from an accredited institution.

  • Experience: 8+ years of professional experience in architecture, with a demonstrated focus on educational or K-12 projects.

  • Software Proficiency: Advanced command of Revit and modern project management software.

  • Licensure: Must be a Licensed Architect (AIA).

  • Logistics: Ability to reside locally in the Charlottesville/Central Virginia area to facilitate regular work site visits and stakeholder meetings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Sustainability Leadership: LEED AP BD+C or WELL AP credentials.

  • Business Acumen: Experience in public bidding processes and Virginia-specific educational facility guidelines (DOE).

  • Advanced Coordination: Expertise in navigating complex municipal approvals and community engagement workshops.
