Job Title: Draftsman/Estimator

Full-Time | Pay DOE
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, four 10-hour days

Location: Alpine, WY (new shop)

South Park Metalworks is growing and opening a new shop in Alpine, WY. We are seeking a detail-oriented Draftsman/Estimator to produce shop drawings using SketchUp and prepare cost estimates for our metalwork, welding, and fabrication projects. This role is key to ensuring projects are properly scoped, drawn, and priced to support efficient fabrication and successful project delivery.

The ideal candidate has an eye for detail, the ability to read and interpret drawings, and strong organizational skills. This position works closely with management, customers, and shop personnel to deliver accurate drawings and competitive estimates that drive successful projects from concept through completion.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop detailed shop drawings, fabrication plans, and design layouts using SketchUp
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and quotes for fabrication and installation projects
  • Review project specifications, customer requirements, drawings, and field measurements to produce accurate drafts and material lists
  • Source pricing from suppliers and subcontractors and incorporate accurate cost data into estimates
  • Coordinate with customers, project managers, and shop staff to clarify project scope and design intent
  • Update and revise drawings and estimates as project requirements change throughout the project lifecycle
  • Track project drawings, revisions, and estimating documentation in both paper and electronic formats
  • Communicate design intent, drawing details, and fabrication specifications to shop and field personnel
  • Perform material takeoffs and assist with material ordering based on approved drawings
  • Review project drawings for constructability, fabrication efficiency, and cost-effectiveness
  • Maintain organized records of drawings, bids, quotes, and project documentation
  • Help maintain drafting standards, drawing templates, and estimating processes
  • Support a professional, organized, and efficient work environment
  • Perform additional drafting, estimating, and coordination duties as assigned
