Job description

Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects is currently seeking a Hydrologic and Hydraulics (H&H) Project Manager with around 5-10 years of experience to join our team in South Jordan, Utah. As part of our team, you will perform analysis and design as a Project Manager on difficult to complex water resource related projects for our rail clients and support the work of other divisions within the firm as requested.
This position will lead and direct/perform high level H&H projects. Project Management of complex H&H projects where you work closely with clients, discipline managers and support staff to ensure the successful completion of projects. The ability to effectively coordinate staff efforts to ensure timely and cost effective solutions to project requirements is a must.
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Client interaction and coordination on a frequent basis
  • Coordinates the plans and schedules of detailed phases of the engineering work and performs the design of major projects.
  • Monitors time schedules and job costs and adjusts to comply with each
  • Provide project engineering and task management on water resources design projects
  • Supervise and delegate work to junior engineers and support staff as necessary to manage specific H&H engineering tasks within larger complex projects
  • Conduct stormwater collection systems modeling and design
  • Perform floodplain, inundation, and hydrologic studies
  • Perform sediment transport and scour analyses to support water resources projects
  • Assist in water resources permitting efforts
  • Collect, evaluate, and present data in technical reports and oral presentations
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering plans and specifications for design of detention facilities, storm drains, flood control facilities and other hydraulic structures
  • Work independently and within multidisciplinary teams of geomorphologists, biologists, planners, emergency managers, and additional hydraulic and water resources engineers
  • Contribute to business development, marketing, and proposal preparation efforts

Required Skills:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with HEC-1, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, GEO-RAS, storm drain system analysis
  • Strong background in surface water hydraulics and hydrology as well as applying this technical knowledge to address client needs, meet deliverables, and train junior staff;
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3d and/or Microstation
  • Team-oriented individual who is eager to lead and manage projects

Required Experience:
  • Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering
  • Master's degree in with an emphasis in Water Resources (or related) is preferred
  • 10 years of increasingly-responsible, professional experience in the study, design, and construction administration of water resource related projects including Class I railroad H&H projects
  • Utah State Professional Engineer License, or ability to obtain within 6 months

Job Location: South Jordan, Utah
Annual Salary Range: $100,000 - $160,000 (Depending on Experience)
