Job description

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing assigned plumbing construction projects from startup through completion. This position works closely with company leadership, field supervision, general contractors, vendors, and office personnel to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all applicable codes, specifications, and contractual requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage project cost budgets, material procurement, and labor needs for assigned projects in coordination with Superintendents and Foremen
  • Maintain a complete understanding of assigned projects, including Division 22 plumbing specifications, approved submittals, contract drawings, and project schedules
  • Ensure all installations meet applicable IPC and North Carolina plumbing code requirements
  • Review and cross-reference submittals with project specifications to verify field teams are installing approved and compliant materials and equipment
  • Coordinate project startup activities, scheduling, manpower planning, material deliveries, and overall project execution
  • Work closely with field personnel to establish goals and maintain progress in accordance with project schedules and deadlines
  • Monitor labor productivity, manpower requirements, and job cost performance throughout the duration of the project
  • Participate in recurring job cost and projection meetings with company leadership, including the President and Vice President
  • Maintain strong working relationships with General Contractors, owners, inspectors, vendors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders
  • Attend and represent the company at contractor meetings, coordination meetings, scheduling meetings, and other project-related meetings requiring Project Manager participation
  • Respond to contractor questions and provide clarification regarding the company's scope of work, schedules, materials, and project coordination
  • Utilize company software platforms, electronic documentation systems, and General Contractor project management systems as required
  • Perform general administrative and computer-related tasks including Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, Outlook email communication, document tracking, scheduling updates, and project reporting
  • Manage and coordinate any additional tasks required to successfully start, maintain, and complete assigned project scopes of work
  • Promote and enforce company safety policies and quality standards across all employees and projects
  • Assist in identifying and resolving project issues, delays, conflicts, and change order opportunities

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of commercial plumbing construction practices and project management procedures
  • Understanding of Division 22 specifications, construction drawings, submittals, and plumbing systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contract documents
  • Strong organizational, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and electronic project management/documentation platforms
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously
  • Previous project management or construction management experience preferred
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) required for insurance purposes

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel between office locations and active job sites as needed
  • Ability to work in office settings and active construction environments

Work Environment

Work is performed in both office and active construction site environments.
