We are seeking a Business Analyst / IT Project Analyst to join our team. This role will involve analyzing business processes, gathering and documenting requirements, supporting IT project planning, and collaborating with technical teams, business stakeholders, and vendors. The ideal candidate will have experience in business analysis methodologies, SDLC-based projects, requirements documentation, and test planning, along with a passion for improving business processes through technology.


Job Title: Business Analyst / IT Project Analyst
Location: Lansing, MI (Hybrid – 2 Days/Week On-site required)
Duration: 1 Year Contract (Possible Extension)
Job Description:

The Business Analyst / IT Project Analyst will support complex IT initiatives by evaluating current business processes, identifying improvement opportunities, and translating business needs into clear, actionable requirements. This role requires strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills, as well as experience working within structured IT and government environments.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Gather, analyze, and document business, functional, and technical requirements for IT and software projects.
  • Analyze existing business methods, workflows, and procedures to recommend process improvements.
  • Develop project analysis documentation such as process flows, swim lane diagrams, use cases, and sequence diagrams.
  • Support IT project estimation, planning, scheduling, and forecasting activities.
  • Participate in all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including Agile and other industry-standard methodologies.
  • Draft and support requirements documentation for Requests for Proposals (RFPs) related to IT solutions and services.
  • Organize and facilitate requirements gathering sessions and stakeholder meetings.
  • Develop and coordinate test plans and test cases in collaboration with business subject matter experts.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors, enterprise technology teams, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Prepare clear and concise reports, presentations, and project documentation for leadership and project teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of business analysis methodologies and process modeling techniques.
  • Experience documenting and managing business, functional, and technical requirements.
  • Experience with IT project planning, estimation, and forecasting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, and Visio.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-departmental and inter-agency teams.
  • Experience developing test plans and test cases.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Computer Science, Information Systems, IT Project Management, or a related field.
  • Prior State government experience is a plus.

Additional Requirements:

  • Hybrid schedule with onsite work required from day one.
  • Must be onsite two days per week (Wednesdays are mandatory; second onsite day is flexible).
  • In-person interview required.
  • Local Michigan candidates only.
