Sysco offers a paid 10-week summer internship program in which participants are involved in much more than the day-to-day operations of the company. Interns will be exposed to real projects and challenges in a dynamic company environment designed to give interns real world experiences on what it is like to work at a Fortune 100 company.
Location:
This is a hybrid position located in Houston. Candidates will be local to the Greater Houston area. Relocation is not available.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supports the analysis and evaluation of existing systems for performance
  • Collaborates effectively with the agile team to configure package software when applicable
  • Defines potential improvement changes to resolve errors, prevents the recurrence of problems or improves system maintainability and stability
  • Simulates and tests suggestions made for performance
  • Completes required documentation to communicate required information to deployment, service, and business teams
  • Participates in the daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to update progress, highlight and resolve impediments
  • Proactively learns and researches assigned domain's business processes and systems

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • Students pursuing a Bachelor's degree with concentrations in Computer Science, Information Technology, MIS, or related field
  • Strong academic credentials (Minimum GPA of 3.0)

Experience Preferred:
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Advanced Excel capabilities and SQL knowledge
  • Basic understanding of Scrum, Lean, XP, Kanban and other agile development techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of DevOps, including continuous integration, continuous deployment / delivery, configuration and containerization, infrastructure as a code, and monitoring.

Technical Skills and Abilities:
  • Familiarity with having an "agile-development" mindset enhanced by a strong customer-focus & results-orientation
  • Flexible mindset (not married to a single technology) and demonstrated ability to grow skillset and work across a robust and diverse technology stack
  • Intermediate Excel capabilities and SQL knowledge
  • Willingness and ability to excel in a fast-paced agile environment
