This role works across all business functions — Operations, Finance, Project Controls, Supply Chain, Workforce Planning, and Safety — building reports, connecting to data sources, and delivering insights that help teams make better decisions.

The Analyst I builds reports independently, connects to enterprise data sources including Databricks, and manages their own assigned workload.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting & Dashboard Development

  • Build and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards across assigned business units

  • Connect to and query data sources including Databricks, and other enterprise systems

  • Handle incoming reporting requests independently, managing timelines and delivering accurate outputs

  • Maintain existing dashboards, updating data connections, refreshing models, and resolving broken visuals

  • Validate data accuracy before any report is published or distributed

  • Follow established reporting templates, naming conventions, and team standards

Data Preparation & Quality

  • Pull, clean, and shape data from multiple source systems in preparation for reporting

  • Identify and flag data quality issues or inconsistencies to the appropriate team member

  • Use Power Query to transform and prepare data for reporting use

  • Follow documented SOPs for recurring data processes and assist in creating repository documentation

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Gather requirements for assigned reporting requests directly from stakeholders

  • Present reports and findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Communicate proactively on task status, blockers, and delivery timelines

  • Escalate complex, multi-layered requests to senior analysts with proper context

Team Support & Documentation

  • Assist senior analysts on larger projects as assigned — data prep, validation, and report components

  • Follow existing process documentation and flag outdated or missing steps

  • Contribute to team knowledge by documenting recurring processes and report logic

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Information Systems, or a related field

  • 0–2 years of professional experience in a data, analytics, or reporting role (internships and co-ops count)

  • Proficient in Power BI, able to connect to data sources, build and maintain data models, and develop reports and dashboards independently

  • Demonstrated experience building a report or dashboard that surfaced meaningful KPIs or insights for a stakeholder

  • Able to manage an assigned workload, track multiple requests, and deliver on time

  • Clear communicator across technical and non-technical audiences

  • Foundational understanding of data modeling concepts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with DAX for calculated columns or basic measures

  • Experience with Databricks or cloud-based data platforms

  • Working knowledge of SQL for basic querying and data exploration

  • Experience following or referencing SOPs in a data or reporting context

  • Exposure to construction, trades, or project-based industry data

  • Experience with Vista by Trimble, ProjectSight, or similar ERP/project management platforms

Tools & Systems

Required: Power BI, Microsoft Excel, Power Query

A plus: DAX, Databricks, SQL, Power Automate, Vista by Trimble, ProjectSight,

Why Join Hays Electrical

  • Work with real data across every function of a growing electrical contractor from day one

  • Clear growth path into Data Analyst II and Senior Analyst roles

  • Mentorship and collaboration with experienced analysts and systems professionals
