Job description

Role Overview

This co-op is located in Rochester NY within Eastman Business Park for our Industrial Films and Chemicals Division.  The principal responsibility for this co-op role is to support engineering projects and day-to-day activities across various film and chemical manufacturing processes.  The co-op will gain hands-on experience in manufacturing operations and engineering design.

This co-op can be Fall 2026 (preferred) or Spring 2027. Will be 40 hours/week, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities:
   Support various controls projects, including troubleshooting and obsolescence upgrades.
   Primary focus will be on upgrading multiple obsolete variable frequency drives.  Create release documents that include wiring diagram and drive parameters.  Assist with installation and commissioning.
   Participate in projects involving process improvements, equipment reliability, and automation enhancements.
   Collaborate with engineers and skilled trades personnel on multi-generational equipment and systems.
   Assist in technical support for operations and maintenance activities.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
   Familiar with Allen Bradley VFDs.
   Familiarity with Allen Bradley PLCs and ladder logic.  (Plus, but not required)
   Interested in automation, mechatronics, and process control systems.
   Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
   Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:
   Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Electrical, Automation, Controls, or Mechatronics Engineering. Preference for students that have completed Sophomore year or later. 
   Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
   Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
   Strong work ethic, integrity, and motivation to learn.
