What is a Progressive Agent?

A Progressive Agent is an insurance professional who sells and manages insurance products offered by Progressive Insurance, one of the largest auto insurers in the United States. These agents help customers find the right coverage for their needs, provide quotes, and assist with policy changes and claims. They may work as independent agents representing multiple insurers or as exclusive agents selling only Progressive products. Progressive Agents often specialize in auto, home, renters, and other types of personal and commercial insurance. Their goal is to guide customers through the insurance process and provide ongoing support.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Progressive Agent?

To thrive as a Progressive Insurance Agent, you need a solid understanding of insurance products, sales experience, and typically a valid state insurance license. Familiarity with quoting software, CRM systems, and Progressive’s proprietary tools is important for managing client accounts and processing policies. Exceptional communication, active listening, and relationship-building skills help agents connect with clients and tailor insurance solutions. These abilities are critical for building trust, meeting customer needs, and achieving sales targets in a competitive insurance market.

What are some common challenges faced by a Progressive Agent, and how can they be overcome?

Progressive Agents often encounter challenges such as meeting sales targets, managing a diverse client base, and keeping up with changing insurance regulations. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, adaptability, and continuous learning about new products and industry trends. Building trust with clients and staying organized can help agents effectively address customer needs and achieve their goals. Collaborating with team members and utilizing company resources also supports problem-solving and professional growth.

Agent PM

Oakland, CA • On-site

Albert Invent
Software Development • 51 - 200 employees

Full-time

Re-posted 18 hours ago

Job description

Albert helps chemists change the world by building technology that understands how they work. As chemists ourselves, we know what it's like when software doesn't work the way you do - stuck with systems built by people who never spent a day at the bench. That's why we created Albert OS, the first AI-native operating system for materials science, designed to remove every obstacle between curiosity and discovery.
We are looking for an ambitious and results-driven Agent PM to join our growing team. This role, with a focus on designing and deploying AI agent skills within our 'Ask Albert'agentic platform, will play a key part in turning customer workflow discovery into scalable, monetizable agentic products that drive measurable time-to-value across Albert's enterprise customer base.
If you are passionate about cutting-edge technology and thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment, we want to hear from you.
What you'll do
Strategy & Delivery
  • Identify and prioritize high-impact agentic AI opportunities across enterprise customer workflows, translating discovery into structured agent skill requirements, success metrics, and roadmap decisions.
  • Own the full lifecycle of agent skills - from problem discovery and prototype validation through operational adoption and transition into generally available, monetizable capabilities.

Execution & Collaboration
  • Design, build, test, and iterate on AI agent skills directly - applying Albert's agentic platform capabilities, prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, and tool integrations to real customer problems.
  • Embed with strategic customers to map end-to-end workflows, uncover automation opportunities, and facilitate co-design workshops that translate business needs into agent behaviors and system logic.
  • Partner closely with Forward Deployed Scientists, Engagement Managers, and Delivery teams to ground agent skill development in real deployment experience and customer context.

Leadership & Impact
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to enterprise customers on their AI transformation roadmap, helping them envision and realize the operational impact of agentic AI within their R&D workflows.
  • Champion adoption and measurable ROI across your portfolio of agent skills - advocating internally for prioritization and externally for customer success.
  • Contribute to establishing the patterns, playbooks, and evaluation standards for Agents as one of Albert's earliest Agent PMs.

You will have
  • 5+ years of product management experience, with a track record of shipping AI-powered products in a high-growth environment.
  • Exceptional customer discovery skills, ability to map workflows, and surface unspoken pain points.
  • Hands-on experience building or deploying AI agents, copilots, or assistants - including prompt engineering, tool use, evaluation, and iterative refinement.
  • Experience in vertical SaaS or enterprise software; familiarity with R&D or science-adjacent workflows is a plus.
  • Comfort prototyping solutions directly - you validate ideas by building them, not just describing them.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to engage with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across teams and time zones.

Key competencies
Systems Thinking: Ability to visualize and design how AI agent systems connect, share data, and enable valuable customer outcomes at scale.
Grit: Self-starter, persistent problem solver, relentless in the pursuit of progress in ambiguous 0-to-1 product environments.
Customer Empathy: Deep understanding of how enterprise customers operate; asks the right questions and designs solutions that stick.
Innovator: Passionate about applying emerging AI capabilities to practical, measurable business problems before the patterns are written.
Adaptability: Comfortable operating in dynamic, fast-moving customer and company environments where the approach evolves with new information.
Leadership: Ability to drive agent skill initiatives end-to-end with minimal oversight, aligning cross-functional teams to shared outcomes.
Why Albert?
We have a huge impact. Albert is a growing team with a global reach. We're building toward a future where discovery feels like exploration, not administration. Where chemists can pursue their most ambitious ideas without friction.
We love our global team. Albert's home-base is in the California Bay Area, but we have multiple offices and employees sprinkled around the globe: India, Germany and Japan. In fact, over 50% of our employees work outside of California. An international remote culture is in our DNA.
We care about you. Albert works hard to create a positive environment for our employees, and we think your life outside of work is important too. We work hard and we play hard.
We value diversity. Growing and maintaining our inclusive and diverse team matters to us. We are committed to being a company where our employees feel comfortable bringing their authentic selves to work and have the ability to be successful - every day.
We're always looking for humble, sharp, and creative folks to join the Albert team. If you think you might be a fit, please apply.
