Progress’s tools can be integrated with numerous third-party applications, and they are suitable for developers working with web development, mobile apps, desktop software, and database applications. When seeking work in this technical specialty, you should look for jobs as both a Progress developer and an OpenEdge developer.

Job description

Placement Type:
Temporary
Salary:
$65-75 per hour DOE
Position Overview
Join our client's Finance IT organization as a Senior SAP Developer to help drive our global enterprise modernization. We are actively retiring older systems and migrating to a modern SAP S/4HANA environment across our accounting, purchasing, and vehicle sales and ordering workstreams.
We are looking for a seasoned, hands-on developer who embraces a "Cloud Mindset" and "Clean Core" guiding principles to build upgrade-safe enhancements, customizations, and integrations using the latest SAP technologies. This role offers a high degree of autonomy, allowing you to focus on independent development following initial team alignments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design & Development: Participate in the end-to-end design, development, testing, and deployment of SAP solutions, including enhancements, customizations, and integrations.
  • System Implementation: Actively engage in the full lifecycle of SAP projects, from initial business requirement gathering and technical analysis to go-live and post-implementation support.
  • Architecture & Methodology: Adhere strictly to Clean Core guiding principles, adapt cloud-based applications using SAP BTP tools, and embrace a modern cloud mindset.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with a 25-30 member cross-functional team, project managers, and consultants across multiple streams (Finance, GBC) to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
  • Technical Documentation: Develop and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including complex design specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
Candidate Requirements
Education & Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of progressive SAP development experience.
  • Note: Recent college graduates without the required professional timeline will not be considered.
  • Certifications: Professional certification in SAP technologies is highly preferred.
Technical Skills (Ranked by Importance)
  1. SAP BTP & Integration: Advanced knowledge of SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), API development, and tools like SAP Build Work Zone, Business Application Studio (BAS), and GIT.
  2. Modern ABAP Programming: High proficiency in SAP ABAP programming, including RESTful ABAP Programming (RAP), Cloud Discovery Service (CDS) views, and modern extensibility.
  3. Fiori & UI5 UX: Strong hands-on experience with SAP Fiori, SAPUI5, and building/consuming OData services.
  4. S/4HANA & Upgrades: Deep experience working in SAP HANA and S/4HANA environments, specifically handling code remediation for ECC to S/4HANA upgrades.
  5. Core Module Integration: Solid technical familiarity with core SAP functional modules, particularly SAP SD, MM, and FI/CO.
  6. Integration Protocols: Familiarity with SAP Cloud Platform, RISE, and traditional integration technologies (IDocs, RFC, BAPI, SOAP, REST).
Soft Skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and capable of delivering complex objects independently after initial alignment calls.
Work Environment & Schedule
  • Rhythm: The day-to-day role involves a few structured weekly meetings and touchpoint calls with consultants, leaving the rest of your week dedicated to independent programming and development.
  • Hybrid Schedule: A strict 3-day onsite schedule (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) is required. Candidates requiring a 2-day onsite or fully remote schedule cannot be accommodated.
