We support the Job Corps program's mission to teach eligible young people the skills they need to become employable and independent and place them in meaningful jobs or further education. Our center specializes in Culinary Arts, Welding/Construction, Electronics Engineering, and Certified Medical Assistant training.

POSITION SUMMARY
This role is responsible for the direction, oversight and management of the Academics, Career Technical Training, Counseling, Career Preparation and Work-Based Learning departments/functions and related programs and activities. Ensures student progress, achievement and completion of the Job Corps program, along with placement upon program completion. The Programs Manager ensures students are provided with industry-recognized training and credentials leading to full-time jobs, higher education, apprenticeships or advanced training. This role also ensures a clean, safe and secure learning environment. This individual is expected to provide extended training opportunities for students to supplement their education, training and development while ensuring strict confidentiality of sensitive information and integrity of student data. The Programs Manager supervises and manages the Programs Department and staff which is comprised of approximately 3 direct reports and 20 indirect reports. This role is second in command at the Job Corps center and responsible for assuming the role of Center Director when that individual is not on center.
JOB DUTIES
  • Responsible to provide students with educational and career technical training leading to academic and career technical training completions
  • Responsible to provide students with a career transition program that prepares students for quality placements
  • Provides students with comprehensive and individualized case management that ensures student progress, achievement and completion of the Job Corps program, along with timely placements
  • Ensures Center meets or exceeds DOL/Company performance goals
  • Ensures high quality career preparation, counseling, academic, career technical training and career transition programming and instruction, along with work-based learning services
  • Ensures that areas of oversight are organized, clean, safe and conducive to student learning, achievement and success
  • Responsible for ensuring Programs staff effectively utilize and follow the Centers behavior management system
  • Effectively motivates, empowers and requires staff to perform his/her job responsibilities
  • Employs sound time-management and delegation skills
  • Holds staff accountable for producing quality work, develops staff for career progression and disciplines staff that fail to meet goals
  • Fills staff vacancies in a timely manner. Interviews, recommends for hire, disciplines, recommends for termination and evaluates the performance of the employees in the Employability & Training Departments
  • Provides required/supplemental training for new and current employees
  • Works with Career Transition staff to identify quality job opportunities for students
  • Works with Administration Director and E&T Manager to identify and review Career Technical Skill straining projects
  • Develops Center-beneficial linkages within the community for enrollment, education, employment, Career Technical Training, WBL and placement.
  • Promotes a positive image of the Center and establishes meaningful relationships with elected officials
  • Mentors, monitors and models the Career Success Standards as required by the Job Corps Policy & Requirements Handbook (PRH)
  • Provides high-quality supervision and management for the student population and takes appropriate action and positively influences student behavior
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited school required. Masters degree from an accredited school preferred
  • A minimum of five years of experience in education, training, or related field required; two years of which must be supervisory experience.
  • A valid in-State teaching certificate preferred
  • Job Corps or related program experience preferred
