Job description

Position: 
Director of Electronic Security Programs Purpose:  * Valkyrie Enterprises is seeking a Director of Electronic Security Programs who will sit out of our office in Norfolk, VA, Charleston, SC, Huntsville, AL, or potentially operate remotely. * This is a senior leader responsible for overseeing a portfolio of complex U.S. Federal Government programs and projects involving Electronic Security Systems (ESS), critical communications infrastructure, and enterprise-level security technologies. * This role leads multi-disciplinary teams, partners closely with Business Development to drive growth, and ensures that programs scale effectively as the company expands. The ideal candidate is a strategic, results-driven leader with deep program management expertise, proven ability to build and develop high-performing teams, and strong technical understanding of DoD/DoS security systems and supporting infrastructure. Job Description: Strategic Leadership & Organizational Growth * Build, mentor, and lead high-performing program and project teams, ensuring clear accountability and continuous professional development. * Drive organizational scale by maturing processes, improving execution efficiency, and implementing repeatable program management frameworks. * Partner with Business Development to shape strategy, identify growth opportunities, and support capture, proposal development, and cost estimating efforts. * Work closely with senior leadership to establish program objectives, allocate resources, and ensure alignment with corporate goals. Program & Portfolio Management * Provide executive oversight for multiple Federal Government programs and ESS implementations, ensuring successful delivery across cost, schedule, scope, quality, and risk. * Develop and review program plans, schedules, staffing models, budgets, and performance metrics. * Ensure project teams adhere to contractual requirements, technical specifications, and regulatory standards (UFC, DoD security requirements, and customer-specific policies). * Conduct executive-level customer briefings and reporting, ensuring transparency and proactive problem-solving. Technical Oversight & Operational Excellence * Provide technical direction for the design, integration, and deployment of enterprise-level ESS solutions including Access Control, IDS, CCTV/VMS, alarm monitoring, and IP-based security networks. * Review and approve technical documentation such as system designs, statements of work, bills of material, and engineering submittals. * Ensure standardization and continuity across programs and promote technical best practices. * Oversee the processes governing commissioning, acceptance testing, system validation, and sustainment activities. Customer, Stakeholder, and Partner Engagement * Act as a senior-level liaison with government stakeholders, ensuring strong relationships and consistent customer satisfaction. * Manage and cultivate key subcontractor and teaming partner relationships. * Represent the company in industry engagements, partner discussions, and strategy meetings. Qualifications: * Must have at least 10–15+ years of experience managing complex technical programs or large-scale Federal Government projects. * Must have demonstrated success building and leading teams in fast-paced environments. * Must have strong program management background with experience managing multiple ESS-related programs. * Must have deep knowledge of Access Control, IDS, CCTV/VMS, IP-based security systems, and DoD-related infrastructure. * Must have experience collaborating with Business Development on proposals, capture strategy, and cost estimates. * Must have exceptional communication skills with ability to engage at all organizational levels. * Must have U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance. Desired Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree in engineering, management, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience) is preferred. * PMP certification is preferred. * Experience with Costpoint or similar systems is preferred. * Experience with enterprise security platforms such as Lenel, Genetec, Hirsch, AMAG, or Milestone is preferred. * Experience with federal acquisition processes and DoD/DoS procurement environments (e.g. US Army Corp of Engineers & Naval Information Warfare Center) is preferred. Security Requirements: * None Travel Requirements: * Travel up to 25% based on program needs and site visits. * Ability to work in office, remote, secure facility, and occasional field environments. Physical Requirements: * Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods. * Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another. * Communicating with others to exchange information. * Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
