Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC, headquartered in Dallas, is a regulated electricity transmission and distribution business that uses superior asset management skills to provide reliable electricity delivery to consumers. Oncor (together with its subsidiaries) operates the largest transmission and distribution system in Texas, delivering power to nearly 4.1 million homes and businesses and operating more than 145,000 miles of transmission and distribution lines in Texas.
Summary
Under general supervision, the Metering Associate will work to learn the concepts and principles of all phases of technical metering. Job duties will include shipping, receiving, and retiring meters; installing, removing, and testing single-phase self-contained meters; and fulfilling various meter-related requests, and maintaining and revising various drawings and other documentation. The Metering Associate is a part of the Metering Technology Development Program where they will participate in Oncor classroom metering academics and field skill application to develop and learn technical metering. This program typically leads to consideration for meter technicians, engineering analysts, or meter repair technicians.
Key Roles & Responsibilities Other duties may be assigned. Directly or through others, the incumbent:
  • Load and unload shipments of meters, transockets and transformers as well as ship/receive/retire meters and various meter related equipment.
  • Inspects, installs, removes, tests, maintains, and investigates self-contained metering installations.
  • Updates the asset management and customer information systems. Creates, tracks, and closes service orders pertaining to meter installations.
  • Creates and maintains various documents, drawings, operating procedures and records, as required.
  • Performs all work consistent with the Safety Handbook.
  • Performs all work consistent with Company policies and procedures, while complying with applicable regulations/requirements.

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
  • Possess or working towards an A.A.S. in Electronics/Electrical Power or similar applicable degree at an accredited college or university is required.
  • Candidates working towards an A.A.S. degree will be expected to complete the course curriculum in as reasonable amount of time as determined by Measurement Services management.
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver License.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in electrical oriented subjects, such as mathematics, science, electrical theory, electronic theory, and basic electrical skills.

Measures of Success
  • Demonstrates knowledge of metering applications to include proper socket wiring diagrams, voltages, and dangers associated with those applications. Ability to recognize sub-standard metering installations and take appropriate action to correct.
  • Interaction with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues in accordance with Company policies and standards.
  • Demonstrates progress of knowledge, skills and capabilities.
  • Demonstrates contribution to workgroup and Company goals.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform work with minimum supervision while maintaining a continuing mentoring relationship with assigned personnel.

Follows Measurement Services safety procedures to ensure safety of employee and public.
