Job description

Pay range: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour.

The Independent Living Resident Program Assistant & Volunteer Coordinator supports the Program Director in leading and executing all Resident Programs in Independent Living as well as leads community outreach to recruit and retain volunteers for the community as a whole. Ensuring residents remain as engaged, healthy and as active as possible is the priority of the position. This may include some time spent supporting AL and MC neighborhoods as assigned. The IL Program Assistant & Volunteer Coordinator carries out a specific set of tasks to fulfill the standards of Resident Programs as assigned by the Program Director. 

Qualifications 

โ€ข Education or training in a heath care field or certified as an activity professional by a recognized accrediting body, preferred but not required

โ€ข Experience working with seniors and those with memory loss strongly preferred.

 โ€ข Two yearsโ€™ experience in activity planning for seniors preferred.

โ€ข Two yearsโ€™ experience recruiting and retaining volunteers preferred, must be personable with exceptional phone and communication skills

โ€ข Must be able to develop relationships and create partnerships that benefit the partner as well as our community

โ€ข Must have a thorough knowledge of social and psychological needs of residents.

โ€ข Ability to work without close supervision and to follow verbal and written instructions. โ€ข Must be able to prioritize, utilize good time management and problem-solving skills

โ€ข Valid driverโ€™ license, with no major violations within 3 years

โ€ข Must, have a working knowledge of and be able to utilize technology effectively. Areas of Primary Responsibility

โ€ข Assists the Program Director with planning, developing and preparing a variety of physical, social, recreational and educational events for Independent Living residents.

โ€ข Manages transportation and resident outings for Independent Living residents

โ€ข Assists with the production of the Independent Living monthly calendar.

โ€ข Assists residents to be able to use digital programs & technology

โ€ข Maintains knowledge of communities, services, and events in the area and incorporates into activity schedule as appropriate.

โ€ข Establishes a warm and welcoming atmosphere for residents, volunteers and staff.

โ€ข Maintains an organized volunteer data base and documentation

โ€ข Promotes teamwork and positive attitude among associates

โ€ข Continually evaluates the quality and consistency of activities for residents and suggests adjustments, corrections, and changes as necessary.

โ€ข Must have a clean driving record, and be eligible to be ensured on the company driving policy, and be able to operate a large passenger van safely.

โ€ข Must be able to work weekends and holidays on a rotating basis, as scheduled.
