Summary of Position

As the Director of Mechanical Engineering supporting our Architecture and Engineering business unit, you are responsible for leading, coordinating and overseeing all activities, projects and personnel within the mechanical engineering discipline. This role also focuses on business development strategies, sales forecasting, and the financial and operational management for Core States Group’s mechanical engineering team.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the Mechanical Engineering consulting process, identifying the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring strong relationships, effective communication, and the delivery of exceptional service to clients.
  • Participate in business development efforts, including attending marketing functions, industry events, and cross marketing with other offices.
  • Oversee initial program investigations to assess feasibility and requirements.
  • Prepare and negotiate proposals and contracts with clients and sub-consultants.
  • Manage and provide leadership to Senior Program Managers and Program Managers. Ensure project timelines are met and effectively communicated back to clients.
  • Analyze data to support decision-making and implement best practices aligned with key performance indicators and company goals.
  • Mentor, develop, and support staff, fostering professional growth and team performance.
  • Other duties as required.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required
  • Licenses: P.E. required
  • 15+ years of mechanical engineering project and/or program management experience within the A/E/C environment
  • Must have experience with commercial programs such as retail or restaurants
  • 8+ years of supervisory experience
  • MS Office required, familiar with AutoCAD and Revit a plus
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to identify practical uses for company-approved AI tools to improve team processes, support better decisions, and increase efficiency
  • Demonstrated ability to review AI-generated content for accuracy, protect confidential information, and remain responsible for the final work product


Work Location

This role can either be a hybrid position based out of any Core States Group office or a remote position so long as you are near a major airport. The expected travel is up to 35% of the time, both locally and nationally to meet with the team and clients.
