Job Summary

Under general direction and supervision of the Electric Distribution Engineer, performs engineering duties associated with the electric transmission and distribution system construction and operations; provides project oversight and technical support to crews regarding the construction, operation and maintenance of the electric transmission and distribution systems; assists with special projects as required.

Engineer I

Salary Range: $78,374.40 โ€“ $121,472.00

Anticipated Hiring Range: $78,374.40 โ€“ $99,923.20 (commensurate with skills and experience)

Minimum Requirements
  • Less than one year of experience
  • Fundamental of Engineering (FE) certification
  • Valid Driver's License
Job Duties
  • Assists with performing responsible operations analysis tasks and duties relative to improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the electric transmission and distribution system
  • Assists the Electric Distribution Engineer, Electric Engineering Coordinator and engineering personnel with the design and cost analysis of electric system extensions and system improvement projects
  • Prepares specifications and bid documents
  • Performs engineering and construction design duties related to the electric transmission and distribution system
  • Interacts with various state, municipal and federal agencies as well as outside engineering firms and contractors on company-related projects
  • Trains and instructs employees in the safe and efficient work practices, as set by the NESC, OSHA and APPA guidelines
  • Leads and participates in the repairs of the GUC electrical system following storms or other disruptions of electrical service
  • Performs other duties as required

Salary Range: $91,457.60 โ€“ $141,731.20

Anticipated Hiring Range: $91,457.60 โ€“ 127,046.40 (commensurate with skills and experience)

Minimum Requirements
  • Over four years of experience
  • Fundamental of Engineering (FE) certification
  • Professional Engineer in the State of North Carolina
  • Valid Driver's License

Typical work schedule will be Monday through Friday โ€“ 8:00am to 5:00pm. Rotating Standby Status Required.
