Are you a highly motivated Project Engineer who works well within a strong team environment?

In this role, you will support the planning, design, and execution of facility expansion and maintenance capital projects within the Major Projects portfolio delivered by external engineering consultants. Working closely with the Engineering Lead and a multidisciplinary project team, this role is responsible for defining project scope during the early phases, including schedule, cost, and risk considerations, and providing ongoing oversight to ensure design deliverables meet Enbridge standards, regulatory requirements, industry codes, and internal engineering guidelines. The Project Engineer coordinates engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with approved budgets and schedules. This role also collaborates extensively with Project Execution, Operations, and Shared Services teams to integrate operational, technical, and organizational requirements into the design process, supporting successful project delivery and long-term asset reliability.

What Will You Do:

  • Support the Engineering Lead and multi-disciplinary team in the development and execution of facility expansion and maintenance capital projects.

  • Support the development of project scope, schedule, capital cost estimates, execution plans, risk assessments, and supporting documentation for assigned facility projects.

  • Ensure project scope definitions comply with all regulatory, environmental, health, and safety requirements through effective management and coordination of internal functional groups.

  • Ensure all facilities are designed in accordance with applicable regulations, industry codes, and corporate standards.

  • Manage the execution of design deliverables by third-party engineering firms to meet project budget and schedule requirements.

  • Review and approve engineering design deliverables, including drawings, technical reports, and material listing sheets.

  • Review vendor quotations, prepare technical evaluations, and recommend equipment and material selections based on technical merit, cost, and delivery requirements.

  • Support commissioning and startup activities for newly installed facilities, as required.

  • Review lessons learned from completed projects and incorporate applicable recommendations into future designs and project execution strategies.

  • Supports and/or leads businesses initiatives e.g. cost saving opportunities in line with business justifications for projects.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university, with experience in Liquids Pipeline and/or Gas Transmission & Midstream facilities (e.g. Compressor Stations, Meter Stations, Cooling facilities, Pipeline Valve Sites, Pump stations, Storage tanks, Terminals, etc.). Mechanical Engineer preferred.

  • Currently registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA.

  • 4+ years of progressively responsible experience in engineering and project management.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative, initiate and manage change.

  • Able to work independently while managing multiple priorities and resolving complex issues using strong technical and business judgment.

  • Strong stakeholder awareness and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate technical issues and impacts across internal and external, technical, and non-technical teams.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • Office based role.

  • 10-20% of time is in the field scoping projects or supporting construction and commissioning activities.

  • Time sensitive deliverables.

  • A valid driver's license and maintenance of a responsible driving record is required.
