Job description

Fiber - OSP Engineering Associate
Location: Charlotte, NC and/or Raleigh, NC
Job Type: Full Time, Salary
Compensation: $58,000 - $73,000 (based on experience)
Travel: 25%
TEP is seeking a full-time Engineering Associate in our Charlotte, NC and/or Raleigh, NC office.
As an Engineering Associate, you will serve as an integral member of our fiber engineering team, working on projects such as: dark fiber, enterprise, E-Rate, and fiber to the home (FTTH).

Engineering Associate Responsibilities
  • Prepare and develop detailed construction, splicing, and permitting drawing packages, using AutoCAD or client required software
  • Research, obtain, and incorporate existing utility and ROW data into design
  • Devise new approaches to problems and prepare or modify drawings, monitor work compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and TEP standards
  • Communicate with fellow employees and managers to ensure timely and efficient completion of projects and proper communication of any issues.
  • May assist with client interaction to include correspondence to clients, problem resolution, and final reports to meet required deadlines
  • Provide support to all team members by assisting in prioritizing and managing workloads
  • Travel up to 25% of the time, to assist with field data collection and/or client meetings
  • May assist with the training of new entry-level designers/drafters
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualification Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A degree is not required, but is preferred. Candidates with backgrounds in Drafting amp; Design Technology, Engineering, or related fields are strongly encouraged to apply
  • 3-5 years of direct experience with fiber network designs, must have a basic understanding of industry engineering and permitting standards
  • 4+ years of direct AutoCAD experience (preferably using AutoCAD Civil 3D)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, high level of integrity, and strong team player
  • Well-developed decision making, analytical, and problem solving skills; displaying the ability to provide a solution where none apparently exists
  • Proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to multi-task and work on different projects simultaneously; time management skills
  • Ability to receive direction and work independently or with a team, depending on the assignment
