Location: YMCA Immigrant Services, Halifax Nova Scotia

Program: Youth Outreach

Position Status: 35 hrs/week, from June 22ndto August 28th

Compensation: $17/hr

About the Role:

Under the leadership and direction of the ProgramCoordinator, and in collaboration with program staff, the Program Assistantwill provide direct, hands-on support in the daily operations of programs andservices. This role focuses on assisting staff and clients in a variety oftasks, ensuring smooth delivery of services and program activities. The idealcandidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and ready to assist with a rangeof service delivery tasks in a dynamic, client-focused environment.

In this role, you will:

        Greet and support clients during program visits,assisting with check-in, navigation, and basic inquiries.

        Provide guidance to appropriate staff, services, andresources as needed.

        Prepare client materials such as welcome packages,forms, and handouts.

        Offer support to ensure a welcoming, safe, accessible,and inclusive client experience.

        Support basic administrative tasks including dataentry, filing, and documentation.

        Assist with setup, organization, and cleanup ofworkshops, meetings, and community events.

        Prepare and maintain program supplies, materials, andspaces.

        Collect basic participant feedback to support programimprovement.

        Provide general operational support to ensure smoothprogram delivery.

        Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environmentfor clients and staff.

        Distribute program materials and support communityoutreach activities.

        Assist with client communication via phone, email, andsocial media.

        Support community events by sharing programinformation and encouraging participation.

        Remind clients of upcoming activities and supportonboarding of new participants.

Education and Skills Qualifications:

        Experience working or volunteering in client-facingroles within community services, settlement, education, or social servicesettings

        Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to greet,support, and engage clients in a welcoming and respectful manner.

        Ability to communicate clearly and effectively withclients, staff, and community partners in both verbal and written forms.

        Basic administrative skills, including data entry,filing, documentation, and handling confidential information.

        Experience supporting events, workshops, or communityprograms, including setup, coordination, and cleanup.

        Strong organizational skills with the ability tomanage multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.

        Ability to work collaboratively within a team and takedirection while also working independently when required.

        Familiarity with community resources and the abilityto guide clients to appropriate services is an asset.

        Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel,Outlook) and comfort using email and social media platforms for communicationsupport.

        Ability to maintain a professional, inclusive, andwelcoming environment for diverse clients and community members.

        Flexibility to support evenings or weekends based onprogram needs.
