Position Summary
The CMM Programmer will be responsible for CMM Metrology at Atlas Gunworks and is accountable for the accuracy and repeatability of all measurements used in high precision manufacturing.
As a Subject Matter Expert in Dimensional Metrology, this position requires exceptional attention to detail and documentation skills. Additionally, the person in the role is expected to teach techniques and best practices to all levels of experience in the company.
As a part of the teams that support manufacturing, this role will be responsible for the policies and procedures that control metrology at Atlas Gunworks, and the associated compliance of the organization and its vendors to those documents.

Key Responsibilities
CMM Programming and Inspection
โขย ย ย ย ย Own the programming, fixturing, and validation of all coordinate measuring machine (CMM) inspection routines and workflows.
โขย ย ย ย ย Develop, debug, and maintain CMM programs (PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS, or equivalent) for production parts, vendor parts, sub-assemblies, fixtures and tools.
โขย ย ย ย ย Design and validate repeatable inspection fixtures that minimize operator influence and enable lights-out manufacturing.
โขย ย ย ย ย Evaluate, recommend, and integrate new metrology hardware as production volume and part complexity grow.
GD&T
โขย ย ย ย ย Serve as subject matter expert on ASME Y14.5 GD&T โ and ensure Design for Inspection principles while interpreting, applying, and challenging tolerance schemes on engineering drawings and 3D models.
โขย ย ย ย ย Partner with Design Engineering to ensure features are toleranced in a way that is functional, manufacturable, and inspectable.
โขย ย ย ย ย Lead datum scheme reviews and develop inspection strategies that align measurement methodology with the part's functional datums.
Required Qualifications
โขย ย ย ย ย Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related technical field โ or equivalent demonstrated experience.
โขย ย ย ย ย 6โ10 years of hands-on metrology experience in a precision machining, aerospace, medical device, firearms, or similarly tight-tolerance manufacturing environment.
โขย ย ย ย ย Expert-level proficiency programming and operating CMMs (Zeiss, Hexagon, Mitutoyo, or equivalent) using PC-DMIS, Calypso, or MCOSMOS.
โขย ย ย ย ย Deep, working command of ASME Y14.5 GD&T โ able to read, write, audit, and defend tolerance schemes on complex parts.
โขย ย ย ย ย Comfort working from 3D CAD models (SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent) and converting model data into inspection programs.
โขย ย ย ย ย Clear, professional written and verbal communication โ capable of explaining a measurement decision to a machinist, an engineer, and an executive in the same afternoon.
Preferred Qualifications
โขย ย ย ย ย ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Calibration Technician (CCT), or equivalent professional certification.
โขย ย ย ย ย Formal GD&T certification (ASME Y14.5 GDTP Senior Level, Tec-Ease, or Effective Training).
โขย ย ย ย ย Familiarity with firearms components, 1911/2011 platforms, or other small-arms tolerancing conventions.
โขย ย ย ย ย Experience standing up a metrology lab from scratch โ environmental controls, equipment selection, calibration cycles, and lab-quality documentation.
โขย ย ย ย ย Background working in or alongside an ISO 9001, AS9100, or ITAR-registered manufacturing environment.
