Position Description

The CNC engineering programmer supports Applied Medicalโ€™s advancedย Metals Manufacturingย Engineering teamย by developing,ย optimizing, andย maintainingย precision CNC programs used to produce complex medical device components. This position strengthens Applied Medicalโ€™s machining capabilities by usingย software toย create highย quality programsย forย ourย machining centers. The CNC engineering programmer plays a critical role in ensuring that components meet stringent quality, performance, andย dimensionalย requirements. Key Responsibilitiesย 

  • Develop CNC programs and tooling strategies usingย Fusion360,ย Autodeskย PowerMILLย to supportย Milling (vertical and horizontal 3 to 5 axis), Swiss Lathe, Wire EDM and additionalย machining of complex medical components.ย 
  • Analyze engineering drawings,ย threeย dimensionalย models, and customer specifications toย determineย optimalย tool paths, cutting conditions, and machining techniques.ย 
  • Quantify and select appropriate tools, feeds, and speeds based on part geometry, fixture design, and machine capabilities.ย 
  • Follow established standard operating procedures andย Engineering programming policies to ensure traceability and conformance to internal and customer specifications.ย 
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Production teams to support setup activities, prototyping programs, tooling requirements, and fixture development.ย 
  • Maintain accurateย setup documentation, tooling information, and fixture data to support efficient machining operations.ย 
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing cycle times, increasing machine efficiency, and improving component quality.ย 
  • Utilizeย Fusion360,ย Autodeskย PowerMILLย and SolidWorks to evaluate work holding, traverse fixtures, and develop prototype programs that support qualification of new machining approaches.ย
