Job description

APEX Placement and Consulting has partnered with an exciting company looking to add an EDM Programmer/Operator to their already amazing team. Their primary responsibility will be setting up and operating EDM machines while programming and machining steel injection molds and components to precise specifications. What your day will look like:
  • Program and operate Makino CNC plunge EDM machines
  • Read and interpret blueprints, CAD data, engineering drawings, and GD&T
  • Develop cutter paths using WORK-NC software
  • Set up work pieces, electrodes, tooling, and machine offsets
  • Mount electrodes and complete machine setups and pickups
  • Determine cutting paths, speeds, feeds, and material removal methods
  • Perform EDM burning operations to meet finished quality standards
  • Inspect finished parts and verify dimensions
  • Troubleshoot machine and programming issues as needed
  • Maintain production logs, quality documentation, and equipment maintenance records
  • Follow all quality and safety procedures within the facility
What we are looking for:
  • High School Diploma required
  • Minimum of 2 years of EDM programming/operator experience
  • WORK-NC programming experience required
  • VISI CAD experience is a plus, but training is available
  • Strong understanding of EDM machines, electrode mounting, and setup procedures
  • Blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge required
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to properly use shop equipment, controllers, and measuring tools
  • Must have own tools
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods of time in a manufacturing environment
