Data Science and Engineering Manager

Precision Analytical (PA) is the creator of the DUTCH Test, an innovative hormone test that creates better tools for healthcare professionals to explore hormone issues with their patients. PA exists to make it easier for patients and their healthcare providers to find answers to complex clinical questions. This is a remote position. Our main office is in McMinnville, Oregon. We do allow for out-of-state candidates who are in the states we currently have employees in. This includes Alabama, Arizonia, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, New Jersey, North Carolina, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin.

Job Summary

The Data Science and Engineering Manager will lead a team to drive data initiatives and innovation. They will develop strategies to use advanced data science techniques, manage data infrastructure, and ensure best practices in data management. Working with various teams and stakeholders, the Manager will integrate data solutions into business operations and promote data-driven decision-making. Their focus on continuous improvement will enhance business performance and create new data products.

This role reports to the VP of Technology.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategy:

  • Lead and manage the Data Science and Engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Develop and implement data science vision and strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Oversee the development and execution of projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Mentor and guide team members, promoting professional growth and development.

Technical Expertise:

  • Utilize advanced data science techniques, including machine learning, predictive modeling, and data mining, to extract actionable insights.
  • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of data infrastructure, ensuring scalability and reliability.
  • Implement best practices for data management, data governance, and data security.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data solutions into business processes.
  • Direct the (external) source system engineers and provide software architecture oversight to ensure seamless integration.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand their needs and provide data-driven solutions.
  • Communicate complex data insights and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Drive the adoption of data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

  • Create and improve the delivery of embedded analytics solutions to end users, helping enhance business processes.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in data science and engineering.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement innovative solutions.
  • Lead the development of new data products and services to enhance business performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, engineering, or a related field, master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within data science and engineering.
  • Strong technical skills in programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL) and data tools (e.g., Snowflake).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.

Work Environment:

This position is in an office (or a home) environment with frequent use of a computer and related hardware. A person must be able to stand and/or sit; see, hear and talk; use hands to type, handle or feel tools or controls; use hands and arms to reach. Occasionally lifting/moving up to 30lbs is also required.

In addition, this position may require a person to travel via car, airplane, and other modes of transportation to various sites including Precision Analytical locations, stores or vendor locations, training or meeting venues, or conferences.
