Position Overview: The City of Springfield is seeking a Managing Civil Engineer- Traffic to manage and ensure regulatory compliance with all traffic systems by operating the system, design of the system, analysis, intergovernmental cooperation and coordination.
Essential Duties to Include: Managing the planning, design, and implementation of traffic and transportation projects, including signal systems, roadway safety improvements, and traffic flow optimization. Leads engineering teams, evaluates traffic studies, ensures adherence to standards and regulations, and provides technical direction on complex traffic engineering challenges. Leads Operations Technicians and Electricians for maintenance, repair, and preservation of all signal, sign, and street marking assets.
Collaborates with public agencies, internal departments, and community stakeholders to enhance mobility and safety. Such a way to meet minimum qualifications could include: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field, and; 8 or more years of experience in civil engineering A minimum of 3 years of supervisory responsibilities Preferences may be given for knowledge and experience: Transportation Engineering Transportation Planning Knowledge of Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) Experience with Traffic Simulation, GIS, and CAD software Experience with City Council communications and the ability to present Selection and Interview Process: Top candidates will be invited to interview.
