Overview
East Penn is currently seeking a Sr. Project Engineer who will support continuous improvement and growth of the company through facilities expansion/renovation, process systems installation/replacement and property improvements.
The Sr. Project Engineer manages project engineering functions and provides engineering support to Project Manager on large-scale/highly complex capital improvement projects in accordance with East Penn best practices and has responsibilities for the coordination of the day to day planning and engineering initiatives to ensure deliverables are completed on time, within budget and within scope. Candidates should have a qualifying engineering or project management background in the Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Industrial, Architectural, Construction disciplines or other relevant discipline.
Responsibilities
  • Manages project engineering functions and provides senior level project engineering support on large-scale/highly complex capital improvement and maintenance/repair projects form conception through completion, as assigned
  • Consistently and effectively manages smaller scale projects successfully [defined as: completed on time, within budget, and meets (or exceeds) company expectations]
  • Facilitates engineering meetings and supports the Project Manager at executive level meetings
  • Cultivates and develops trusted adviser relationship with Project Steering Committee/Stakeholders by delivering appropriate and effective executive level communication
  • Works in partnership with Division/Operation department heads, sponsors and steering teams to support projects for successful delivery
  • Fosters an environment of continuous improvement and learning; works creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence
  • Identifies and removes roadblocks by providing feedback, encouragement, and advice; escalating appropriate issues for resolution
  • Provides design and engineering support to East Penn construction and maintenance personnel
  • Prepares drawings and/or supervises the development of drawings to support all projects
  • Reviews design documentation for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and related specifications
  • Specifies and orders materials related to facility and process system expansion or renovation
  • Manages outside consultants, contractors and vendors in order to implement and complete projects
  • Coordinates activities concerning technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design problems
  • Ensures compliance to project specifications, the company's safety program expectations, and all applicable regulatory codes
  • Assists with the development of other Project Engineers by coaching/mentoring, motivating, and inspiring others

Qualifications
  • B.S. Degree or higher in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Industrial, Architectural,Construction Management or other relevant discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in project engineering, management experience or equivalent combination of training and experience are necessary
  • Expertise in Project Engineering practices and tools with a strong track record of successfully completing large-scale/complex projects
  • Microsoft Office (Using standard functions in Word, PowerPoint, Project, Excel, and Outlook)
  • AutoCAD drawing/interpretation capabilities, including ACAD related software
  • Microsoft Project familiarity required
  • Communicates clearly and confidently, tailoring messages to diverse audiences
  • Ability to effectively manage engineering functions from concept to completion using East Penn acknowledged principals and methods
  • Organizational skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work to effectively manage multiple projects at one time
  • Possesses the ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize feedback from employees at all levels of East Penn
  • Self-motivated and self-directed; can effectively cope with ambiguity
  • Proven ability to influence, motivate, and lead team members to deliver projects successfully
