Job description

TITLE: Physical Therapist, Human Performance (Military/SOF)
LOCATION: Portland, OR
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time Salary
TRAVEL: 10%
This position is contingent upon contract award.
POSITION SUMMARY
MGS is seeking a Physical Therapist, Human Performance (Military/SOF) to support the 125th Special Tactics Squadron (STS) in Portland, OR. This is a rare opportunity to work directly with Special Operations Forces operators, applying your clinical expertise in injury prevention, rehabilitation, and performance recovery in one of the most elite and rewarding environments in the country.
RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to):
  • Evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate musculoskeletal conditions with full clinical privileges including ordering imaging, labs, pharmaceuticals, joint injections, and specialty referrals.
  • Develop and administer rehabilitation and pre-habilitation protocols to maximize operator readiness and support safe return to training.
  • Serve as advisor to unit leadership on injury prevention, sports medicine, and rehabilitation.
  • Document all care in the Military Electronic Health Record (AHLTA, GENESIS, etc.) and maintain physical proficiency to operate alongside SOF in austere environments.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must possess a valid state physical therapy license.
  • Must possess and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Must obtain and maintain clinical practice privileges.
  • Master's degree in physical therapy from an accredited institution (doctorate preferred).
  • 5+ years of post-professional sports medicine experience with athletes or operators at the NCAA Division I, Olympic, professional, or Special Operations/AFSPECWAR level.
  • Experience with manual therapy, dry needling, Graston Technique, and functional taping.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Doctorate degree in physical therapy.
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA, or Sports Performance Coach through USA Weightlifting (USAWA).
  • Credentials to utilize Bionex medical machines for lumbar, cervical, and torso stabilization.
  • Previous experience working with the TRICARE medical system.
