Job description

People Mission

"Developing Pioneers in the Digital Cinema Space to creatively and collaboratively transform the cinema industry."

About Unique X

Unique X delivers innovative, autonomous software solutions and content services to cinemas worldwide as we draw all elements of cinema operations and content services together into a single, automated workflow.

We have a truly global reach; our products are used in over 90 different countries around the world making us the leading digital cinema solution provider and our customers include the major Hollywood and independent film studios and the largest cinema operators.

We are an AI-first company, currently embedding AI across every stage of our software development lifecycle and continuously optimising our processes to stay ahead.

If you've ever been to the cinema, chances are Unique X helped put that content on screen.

Role Overview

We feel, act and behave as one big team, working inclusively and collaboratively to develop innovative products by encouraging employees to share their ideas. We value each person’s talent and the contributions they bring to the organisation, giving them the motivation and tools to successfully achieve their goals.

We're looking for a Product Owner to take ownership of delivery within an agile team working on our flagship cinema advertising platform. This is a technically demanding, commercially aware, and client-facing role. You will be the bridge between market needs and engineering execution.

You'll work closely with cinema ad agencies and operator clients, spending significant time on direct client engagement while driving the technical roadmap for a platform that handles programmatic and direct ad sales at scale.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end delivery of the agile team, managing the product backlog, priorities, and release cadence.
  • Act as the primary product contact for cinema advertising clients; gather, validate, and translate commercial and technical requirements into actionable stories.
  • Drive the product roadmap for the ad platform, balancing direct sales workflows, programmatic trading features, and platform reliability.
  • Collaborate with engineering, commercial, and operations teams to ensure roadmap alignment and on-time delivery.
  • Onboard new clients to the platform, activate existing clients through programmatic solutions, and support their transition from direct sales to programmatic trading.
  • Engage deeply with the ad-tech domain. Understanding campaign scheduling, trafficking, inventory management, and programmatic standards (OpenRTB, VAST, etc.).
  • Provide demos of platform functionality to clients and internal stakeholders; act as a product expert for the commercial team, supporting pre-sales conversations, RFP responses, and the development of sales collateral.
  • Partner with commercial and marketing teams to develop go-to-market materials, product positioning, and feature messaging that enables the sales team to effectively communicate platform value to prospect clients.
  • Maintain thorough product documentation and feature specifications.
  • Represent and advocate for the customer in all product decisions.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years in a Product Owner or Product Analyst role within an ad-tech, mar-tech, or digital media platform.
  • Strong understanding of digital advertising ecosystems: programmatic trading, DSPs/SSPs, OpenRTB, VAST, campaign trafficking.
  • Proven ability to own agile delivery end-to-end: backlog management, flow-based planning, acceptance criteria, and release management.
  • Technically credible: able to engage meaningfully with engineers on API design, data models, and system integration.
  • Commercially aware with the ability to develop strong client relationships and translate business needs into product decisions.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written, including technical specification writing.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally for client engagements.

Desirable Skills

  • Exposure to AI/ML tooling within SDLC or product workflows (e.g. AI-assisted development, LLM integrations).
  • Experience with international rollouts.
  • Knowledge of media planning, ad scheduling, or revenue management concepts.

Who Will Thrive Here

You're equally comfortable in a client workshop, a backlog refinement session, and a technical architecture discussion. You care about the commercial outcomes of what your team ships, and you have the ad-tech fluency to hold your own with both agency buyers and platform engineers. You're energised by a fast-moving, globally distributed product environment and comfortable working in an AI-first culture — where AI tooling is embedded across the way we build, not treated as an add-on.

Compensation and benefits

The base salary range for this role is $88,000 to $129,500 per year. The offer within this range will depend on experience, skills, and location.

What We Offer

  • Learning & development support; certifications, courses, and structured growth.
  • Health insurance options.
  • Team events and a genuinely collaborative culture.
  • Hybrid working with flexible hours.
  • International working opportunities, work from another location if you choose.
  • Employee referral programme.
