Job description

It all started with an idea at Block in 2013. Initially built to take the pain out of peer-to-peer payments, Cash App has gone from a simple product with a single purpose to a dynamic ecosystem, developing unique financial products, including Afterpay (BNPL), to provide a better way to send, spend, invest, borrow and save to our 100+ million targetable customers. We want to redefine the world's relationship with money to make it more relatable, instantly available, and universally accessible.
Today, Cash App and Afterpay have thousands of employees working globally across office and remote locations, with a culture geared toward innovation, collaboration and impact. We've been a distributed team since day one, and many of our roles can be done remotely from the countries where Cash App operates. No matter the location, we tailor our experience to ensure our employees are creative, productive, and happy.
The Role
Cash App and Afterpay are scaling its commerce media business in the U.S., and we're building the team that will define what it becomes. We're looking for our first dedicated ad sales hire for the Cash App Media Network - a hybrid Account Executive/Account Manager who can both win new business and grow it once it's won. This is a 0-to-1 role: you'll be prospecting and closing new commerce advertising partnerships one day and managing and expanding existing relationships the next, with the flexibility to be a builder and a catch-all as we stand up the function.
Beyond external sales, you'll be a key internal evangelist for commerce media - helping cross functional teams, such as Growth Marketing and Partner Marketing, understand how our advertising solutions can act as a multiplier for their own goals, not just a standalone revenue line. You'll be equally comfortable pitching a brand-side CMO and pitching an internal XFN lead on why this matters.
The ideal candidate has a proven track record in programmatic and social platform sales and/or senior level account management, thrives in ambiguity, and has genuine entrepreneurial instincts - someone who wants to shape a business from the ground up rather than execute inside an established one.
You Will
  • Own the full lifecycle of a book of business - from prospecting and closing new programmatic and social partnerships (endemic and non-endemic) to managing, retaining, and growing those relationships post-sale.
  • Translate advertiser objectives into strategic programmatic campaigns using our ad formats, audience targeting, insights, and measurement tools - and oversee execution to ensure flawless delivery.
  • Serve as the primary client contact across the relationship lifecycle, building trusted relationships with brand and agency-side stakeholders top-down and bottoms-up.
  • Evangelize commerce media internally - partnering with internal functions to position our advertising solutions as a multiplier for their existing goals, not a separate initiative.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Strategy & Ops, Data Science, Product, Marketing and Payments to surface client feedback, inform roadmap priorities, collaborate strategically on endemic Enterprise merchants and ensure advertiser needs are represented.
  • Identify and pitch new growth opportunities - new formats, new surfaces, new pilots - both to external clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Inform the foundation as you go: sales narratives, case studies, playbooks, and enablement materials that don't exist yet but will be needed as the team scales.
  • Monitor campaign performance and deliver actionable insights and optimization recommendations that drive ROI and retention.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends - DSP innovation, privacy changes, audience targeting shifts, commerce media developments - to act as a trusted advisor both externally and internally.

You Have
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business, marketing, communications, or related field.
  • 7-10+ years of experience in programmatic advertising, spanning sales and/or account management, within a retail media network, digital publisher, agency trading desk, or DSP/SSP platform.
  • A track record of both closing new business and growing existing accounts - comfortable operating across the full client lifecycle.
  • Solid understanding of the programmatic ecosystem, including DSPs, SSPs, audience targeting, measurement, attribution, and brand safety.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence both external partners and internal stakeholders across functions.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous, cross-functional environments and collaborating closely with Strategy & Ops, Data Science, Partnerships, Ad Ops, Product and Partner Marketing.
  • A builder's mindset - comfortable with ambiguity, undefined process, and being a catch-all in the early days of a new function.
  • Passion for digital advertising and commerce media; experience in fintech, retail, or commerce-related businesses is a strong plus.
