Job description
The Program Support Assistant provides administrative and technical support to Nursing Operations. Duties include coordinating projects and educational programs, maintaining databases and reports, supporting staff onboarding and training, managing TMS and SharePoint activities, analyzing program data, scheduling events, and providing customer service to staff and stakeholders.
Qualifications:To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/08/2026.Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current GS Federal employees or have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks under a non temporary appointment must meet TIG requirements. The grade may have been in any occupation; but must have been held at the GS-06 grade level for at least 1 year in the Federal service (or have been held at the GS-07 or higher-grade level) to qualify for this position. You must submit your eligible SF-50(s) with your application to show that you meet this TIG restriction in order to qualify. Note that your latest SF-50 may not show that you meet the TIG requirement, so you may need to submit the applicable additional SF-50 to show you meet TIG (such as a SF-50 for promotion, demotion, within grade increase, etc.).
Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
- Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of gathering information, identifying/analyzing issues and resolving problems with effectiveness and efficiency of work operations. Understanding credentialing, appointment and the Nurse Professional Standards Board process. Administrative process, operating typewriter, word processor, microcomputer, or computer terminal; and skill in operating related equipment such as printers and modems, as required; Developing recommendations to resolve effectiveness and efficiency of work operations; Performing work using Microsoft Excel, Power point, and word; Receiving and reviewing all incoming correspondence. Enter, store, edit and retrieve data and documents for timecards. Ability to independently transcribe complex tours of duty and days worked into an automated timekeeping system. Ensuring all telephone calls are screened-determining the nature and purpose of the calls. store and retrieve electronic documents/files, able to apply judgment in choosing, interpreting, and applying available guidelines to specific issues.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social).
