Job description

NFI Massachusetts Inc., a non-profit human services agency, is seeking motivated and dedicated Assistant Supervisors to join our residential youth programs located in Haverhill, Wilmington, Beverly, Peabody, and Amesbury, MA.

Our residential programs support youth in need of temporary out-of-home placement and serve adolescents and transitional-age youth (ages 12–22) with emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges, often with histories of complex trauma. Youth are referred through the Department of Children and Families (DCF).

About the Role:

Assistant Supervisors play an essential leadership role in ensuring a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for youth and staff. This position works closely with the Program Supervisor to oversee daily operations, guide and support staff, and maintain the integrity of program routines and expectations. Assistant Supervisors provide direct supervision to Youth Counselors and serve as positive role models for both staff and youth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision, support, and coaching to Youth Counselors.
  • Assist with oversight of day-to-day program operations.
  • Ensure safety and structure during all shifts, serving as Supervisor on Duty as needed.
  • Support youth engagement in therapeutic, recreational, and educational activities.
  • Model and reinforce positive, trauma-informed practices for staff and youth.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and administrative records as required.
  • Collaborate with program leadership to uphold agency policies and standards of care.

Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience working in a residential setting with youth is required.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • High energy, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license. 

Status: Full-time | Hourly Rate: $23.50
