Job description

The Career Program Specialist leads Posse’s Career Program in Atlanta.  The mission of the Career Program is to help Posse Scholars transition from being leaders on campus to become leaders in the workforce.  As the site’s leader for career programming and part of the local management team, the Career Program Specialist supports other Posse programming as needed in collaboration with the Program Directors. An important part of the work involves the regular collection of data and reporting on career outcomes. The Career Program Specialist is also a part of the National Career and Alumni Programs team and, as such, is responsible for working with national staff to coordinate the delivery of high-quality programming for Scholars and Alumni. The Career Program Specialist will travel to up to six partner universities annually.  The Career Program Specialist  will be responsible for maintaining close relationships with program partners, and directors of university career centers. The Career Program Specialist reports to the site Director. 

Responsibilities:

Career Program Specialists focus on three key responsibilities:

  • Developing and leading exciting, career-enhancing programming (e.g. workshops and special events)
  • Collaborating with the Director and development staff to cultivate and manage career partnerships
  • Connecting Scholars and alumni to resources that allow them to access a range of career development services, including internship and job search support, skill building, and ongoing career guidance. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Experience working with youth strongly preferred
  • Experience working in corporate settings is a plus
  • Experience managing volunteers a plus
  • Experience facilitating workshops preferred
  • Event planning experience preferred
  • Database management skills strongly desired, i.e., Salesforce
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills and ability to multi-task
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Willing and able to travel
  • Graduate degree a plus
  • Must be enthusiastic, possess a strong work ethic, be able to work independently and with a team and serve as a positive role model for Posse Scholars
  • Demonstrated belief in Posse’s mission and values
