Foundational Business Operations and Shared Services (FBOSS) provides the operational foundation that enables New York Life's core business functions to evolve and grow. The Portfolio and Program Management team partners with business, operations, technology, and change management stakeholders to deliver strategic initiatives, implement enterprise solutions, and drive continuous improvement across Foundational Business value streams. Through disciplined program governance, delivery excellence, and cross-functional collaboration, the team helps transform business capabilities while ensuring successful execution of key organizational priorities.

Role Overview

As a Senior Associate Program/Project Manager on the Foundational Business Operations and Shared Services (FBOSS) Portfolio and Program Management Team, you will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of a portfolio of strategic initiatives across Foundational Business value streams. Partnering closely with business, operations, technology, quality assurance, and change management teams, you will drive delivery of new system implementations and enhancement initiatives using both Waterfall and Agile methodologies. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining project plans, facilitating cross-functional collaboration, managing risks and dependencies, and ensuring successful delivery aligned with business objectives, timelines, and stakeholder expectations.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple programs and projects by defining scope, objectives, timelines, and deliverables in partnership with business and technology stakeholders.
  • Facilitate recurring governance meetings, project working sessions, and stakeholder communications to drive alignment, decision-making, and execution across cross-functional teams.
  • Develop and maintain project artifacts, including project plans, status reports, dashboards, dependency tracking, and executive communications to provide transparency into delivery progress.
  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks, issues, and cross-team dependencies, driving timely resolution and appropriate escalation to maintain delivery commitments.
  • Partner with quality assurance, user acceptance testing, change management, and technology teams to coordinate testing activities, support implementation readiness, and ensure successful solution delivery.
What You'll Bring Required Skills
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5-7 years of program and/or project management experience leading initiatives using both Waterfall and Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and manage multiple projects and resources while meeting business objectives and delivery timelines.
  • Strong experience identifying, managing, and resolving project risks, issues, dependencies, and competing priorities across cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.
  • Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Microsoft Project, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience delivering projects within the insurance or financial services industry.
  • Exposure to AI-enabled solutions, AI-driven initiatives, or emerging technology implementations.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), or comparable project management certification.
  • Experience supporting enterprise system implementations or large-scale business transformation programs.

Pay Transparency

Salary Range: $100,000-$143,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No 

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
