Opportunity:
The Military Program/Project Operations Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the successful execution of a complex, multi-phase program. Acting as a deputy to the Project Manager, managing logistics, program tasks, drives cross functional coordination, and ensures alignment across stakeholders and deliverables. This position is ideal for someone who is organized, proactive, and eager to grow into a full project or program management role. You will be responsible for mission planning, contingency planning, operational coordination, operational accountability, field operations, testing, deployment support, and sustainment experience.
This role is located onsite in Sterling, VA and up to 50% Oconus travel.
Responsibilities:
  • Support operational integration of tactical systems into customer mission environments
  • Coordinate with military end users to capture operational requirements and feedback
  • Participate in field demonstrations, exercises, and operational assessments
  • Support mission planning, deployment readiness, and operational sustainment activities
  • Interface with engineering teams to communicate operational constraints and priorities
  • Assist with development of CONOPs, TTPs, and operational workflows
  • Support customer engagement activities with DoD and allied stakeholders

Program & Project Coordination
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to understand program objectives, constraints, risks, and timelines.
  • Own and maintain detailed project plans and task trackers, ensuring assigned work is documented, monitored, and completed on schedule.
  • Facilitate coordination across multiple project teams, helping to align deliverables, dependencies, and priorities.
  • Support risk and issue tracking by identifying roadblocks early and forwarding recommendations for mitigation or escalation.

Operational & Execution Ownership
  • Manage and execute key program tasks independently, ensuring timely completion and cross-team communication.
  • Coordinate operational activities across internal and external partners-including technical teams, suppliers, and customers.
  • Support planning and execution of program test events, demonstrations, or milestone activities with attention to timelines, requirements, and resource readiness.

Meeting & Stakeholder Management
  • Plan, schedule, and run program meetings, including preparing agendas, leading discussions when required, and tracking action items.
  • Provide clear and timely updates to stakeholders, ensuring visibility into progress, risks, dependencies, and next steps.
  • Serve as a communication bridge between the Program Manager, engineering teams, support functions, and external partners.

Documentation & Reporting
  • Develop and maintain accurate program documentation, including schedules, action logs, test plans, status reports, and compliance-related materials.
  • Prepare regular progress summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure all program documents are stored and managed according to company standards and configuration control policies.

Continuous Improvement & Program Support
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, communication, or workflow across the program.
  • Participate in post event or post milestone reviews to capture lessons learned and help refine program execution.
  • Support the Program Manager in defining processes, templates, and structures that enable predictable program delivery.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5 + years in program coordination, project support, operations, or a similar role.
  • 5+ years' experience supporting military or tactical operations
  • Ability to travel to overseas test sites, customer locations, and exercises
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with project management tools (such as MS Project, Jira, Asana, or similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to work proactively, solve problems, and complete tasks with limited direction.
  • Strong organizational and planning abilities with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast paced environment.

Desired:
  • Military operational experience strongly desired
  • Certification Project Management (CAPM, PMP, ScrumMaster, etc.)
  • Exposure to risk management, scheduling, or basic project management methodologies.
  • ISR systems, tactical radios, ATAK, EW, UAS, Operational planning cycles

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
