Position Summary:
This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit to strengthen the community.Â
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Commits to the YMCA's mission, vision and values to promote healthy living, social responsibility, and youth development.Â
- Works with supervisor to create and implement procedures and/or programs and/or curriculum.Â
- Works with program participants and volunteers to deliver safe, quality programming while adhering to all standards. Plans activities and lessons, sets up materials, and cleans up afterwards.Â
- Supervises and actively engages with participants, fostering positive behavior management and embracing working with youth working with youth in many environments. Promptly reports any behavior concerns to Thrive coordinator.Â
- Maintains a clean and safe program environment and keeps storage areas organized.Â
- Ensures proper hygiene and sanitization, including regular handwashing for children and staff, sanitizing food preparation and serving areas, disinfecting toys and surfaces.Â
- Checks children in at drop off and checks them out upon guardian pick-up in accordance with policy.Â
- Follows DHHS Childcare Licensing rules.Â
- Builds effective, authentic relationships with participants and connects participants to the YMCA.Â
- As a Mandated Reporter, recognizes signs of abuse or neglect and reports to supervisor and the appropriate authorities. Monitors children for signs of illness and document as per policy.Â
