Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide transportation analysis with focus on business unit / supply chain requirements
  • Provide recommendations on freight cost savings and streamlining opportunities
  • Provide quarterly reports to business units that include cost savings opportunities and results
  • Develop and maintain billing systems to ensure accuracy of supplier payments / account coding
  • Resolve shipping issues and make recommendations for process improvements
  • Creating and revising standard operating procedures for logistics processes
  • Training of freight forwarders / carriers
  • Creating and tracking transportation process documents
  • Conduct carrier RFP for domestic and international transportation
  • Execute and enable carriers for domestic and international transportation
  • Maintaining the list of approved carriers and the routing guide; training and enforcing the use of the routing guide
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews with the business units and carriers
  • Preparation of shipping forecasts
  • Review and negotiate carrier contracts, including negotiating freight rates
  • Working with business units to maximize transportation savings potential and providing quarterly status reports
  • Guiding and advising departments to optimize logistics performance
  • Taking corrective action with carriers in the event of service failures
  • Manage one-time rate quotes and one-time shipments to support business units
  • Monitor and develop transportation key performance indicators (KPIs).

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in transportation, logistics and/or supply chain
  • 7+ years of work experience managing transportation for a company the size of Coherent
  • Experience in carrier or other related third party management
  • Experience with Oracle Transportation Management tool or other Transportation Management system.
  • Experience in contractual and negotiation management

Skills
  • Project management skills and experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office skills (Excel, PPT, Word, etc.)
  • Knowledge of creating process flow diagrams (Microsoft Visio)
  • Knowledge of databases and Power BI is an advantage
