Full time positions available for the 2025-2026 School year


Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree, preferably a Bachelor of Arts in social work with applicable experience, experience in working with diverse populations with a strong knowledge of youth development, family systems, and knowledge/experience in education.


Description: The Family Resource Services Social Worker will focus on supporting the mental health needs of students within the context of the family system by providing initial assessment in collaboration with the school counselor, staff, and families. They will be the referral link and coordination between school, family, and outside community resources as it applies to mental health needs of students and families. Primary target populations to be served are those students who are identified by the Family Resource Services Program Coordinator, school counselor, or building administration as in need of services. This position also entails providing parents/families with drug prevention and life skills training as appropriate.


Position:

Salaried grant-funded position; salary dependent on education level and applicable experience; preference for bi-lingual speaking and writing skills in Spanish; 199 days (school year plus 10 days); availability to work flex schedule inclusive school hours, as well as after-school and early evening hours; medical insurance; retirement benefits based on LPCSC guidelines.


Qualifications:

● Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or other related field is preferred.

● Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or related is required.

● Prior history working with an educational system preferred.

● Bi-lingual skills in Spanish preferred.

● Experience working with parents in support of students academic and personal success.

● Preference of prior experience in working with the family/community resources model.

● Experience in working collaboratively and successfully with multiple systems of care

● Experience working collaboratively and successfully with the wider community to create, and support new and existing networks for growing career readiness and career sustainability knowledge and skills for the betterment of parents and students.

● Uphold professional standards.

● Ability to problem solve.


Responsibilities:

● Provides counseling and support to students, parents, teachers, and agencies regarding home-school problems.

● Assists students in identifying and solving emotional and educational problems.

● Assists students in adjusting to school and community life, and/or to transition back to their regular school of attendance.

● Assists with the enrollment of students into alternative education programs, prepares records and attends meetings regarding re-entry into regular schools and programs.

● Assists in the planning, development and implementation of programs which include initiating group and individual activities to assist in the academic and social skill acquisition and success of students.

● Obtains and evaluates student data, including test results, personal histories, school records, teachers' reports, parental information, and agency reports.

● Observes and analyzes student behavior and administers and evaluates achievement and other types of tests in order to develop student behavioral and educational goals.

● Assists students in evaluating relationships with other students and with teachers and/or administrators; helps students in predicting the consequences of various courses of action open to them; reinforces behavior appropriate to the school environment by utilizing guidance techniques; and refers socio-behavioral problems to the administrator of the program.

● Works with building administration and school counseling staff to integrate Mental Health & Wellness strategies into classrooms and instructional design with fidelity.

● Participating in designated Mental Health & Wellness staff meetings.

● Aiding the support of surveys, evaluations, and implementation of grant initiatives

● Coordinating building level (and or grade level) staff feedback and data sharing.


Before an individual can work with students or have his/her name submitted for approval to the Board of School Trustees, the candidate must complete the background check authorization (at a cost of $15.00--cash or check) and the background check must receive a "cleared" rating. Additionally, the individual must complete a federal I-9 form (providing appropriate identification documents); tax forms; a direct-deposit form (with an attached voided check); and, view training videos at the Educational Services Center (approximately one hour in length).
