POSITION

To deliver these projects, VIA Rail is seeking a Master Planner. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the seamless coordination of activities within a complex program, while aligning stakeholders and suppliers with our strategic objectives and timelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Program Planning: In collaboration with the Program Manager, coordinate the integration of project plans into a comprehensive and structured master plan.
  • Review and Optimization: Facilitate sessions with stakeholders to review the master plan, apply best practices, and ensure consistency of the critical path.
  • Capacity Management: Support teams in implementing demand and capacity management using CPMO standards and the EPM solution (Project Online).
  • Monitoring and Control: Maintain the master plan, including schedules for internal resources and external suppliers, track progress, anticipate obstacles and delays, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Quality and Continuous Improvement: Monitor the quality of plans, collaborate with project managers and controllers to improve planning standards, and contribute to process development.
  • Resource Management: Establish the overall resource plan, identify capacity gaps, and propose adjustments.
  • Technical Leadership: Serve as the reference point for planning and capacity management for the Montreal Mobility Modernization program at Dorval and Enhanced Train Control.
  • Analysis: Perform quantitative risk analyses using the Monte Carlo method to assess potential impacts on schedules and costs, and present recommendations.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in major project management or planning.
  • Strong expertise in strategic planning and integrated capacity management.
  • PMP certification (an asset).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English.
  • Autonomy and ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Expertise in MS Project, EPM, and Excel (complex scenario modeling).
  • Ability to simplify complex issues for decision-makers and executives.
  • Leadership, organizational skills, and ability to lead teams.
  • Strategic vision and ability to set clear priorities.
