Job description

We are looking for a collaborative and relationship focused Project Director with strong operational experience to join our Technology team. Someone who will actively manage one or more mid to large scale construction projects, while coaching, mentoring, guiding, and building our next generation of talent. A leader who understands and drives strategic objectives through project execution from pursuit through to warranty. An ambassador of Plan Group culture, brand, policies, with a strong focus on planning and executing our project life cycle with emphasis on our client centric approach.

As a Project Director you will:

  • Plan, organize, monitor, direct projects from preconstruction to completion according to schedule, specifications and budget.
  • Provide active promotion and leadership of our company safety program; ensure that processes are adhered to and that safety remains our main priority. Lead meetings with clients, stakeholders, and project managers to report on the project progress.
  • Provide insight and recommendations into the design, logistics, feasibility, risk assessment and opportunities for value engineering on major projects while managing risk exposure to the organization
  • Manage project teams (including project managers) and enabling them to manage and perform with a degree of independence in accordance with the Project Lifecycle and TIME efficiency programs.
  • Plan and update construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress against established schedules
  • Lead pre-job planning including estimate turnover, kick off meetings, procurement process, subcontractor selection, material handling strategies and opportunities for risk management and improved productivity
  • Oversee monthly forecasts of project financial performance against financial budget, productivity targets and operational goals
  • Follow up with site supervision on labor/manpower progress; identify and reduce roadblocks to success
  • Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Build & maintain strong relationships with clients, GCs, consultants to positively contribute to the success of the project.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Electrical Engineering post-secondary education or related and a minimum of eight (8) years construction project management experience; trade experience a definite asset.
  • Experience managing large scale Electrical commercial and institutional projects.
