JOB TITLE: Commercial Programs Manager, Product Operations

Position Summary:
We are seeking a Manager of Product Operations - Commercial Programs to own the management of programs that sit at the intersection of product and commercial teams. This role ensures that product commitments made during the sales and contracting process are realistic, centrally tracked, and delivered on time - while also taking on broader program management work across product operations as priorities evolve.

You'll serve as the connective tissue between commercial and product organizations, bringing structure, visibility, and accountability to high-stakes programs with direct impact on customer retention and revenue. The ideal candidate is a skilled program manager and cross-functional influencer who can operate with credibility across senior stakeholders, drive outcomes without direct authority, and flex across different types of work as the team's needs shift.

About the Team:

Featured by Gartner and in Melissa Perri's groundbreaking book Product Operations: How Successful Companies Build Better Products at Scale, this team plays a critical role in governing over 260 scrum teams delivering features to more than 10,000 customers-advancing athenahealth's vision of a thriving healthcare ecosystem. We lead cross-functional ceremonies, craft clear and compelling narratives, and ensure internal and external stakeholders are aligned on the value and direction of our product investments. Our mission is to amplify the impact of our R&D efforts by making the roadmap visible, understandable, and inspiring. We thrive on collaboration, clarity, and a shared commitment to improving healthcare.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage programs that connect product and commercial teams, ensuring alignment between business commitments and product delivery

  • Build and maintain centralized tracking and reporting across active programs, with clear status visibility and risk flagging for senior stakeholders

  • Partner with commercial teams early in the contracting and sales process to ensure commitments are realistic and properly resourced

  • Coordinate across product, sales, onboarding, and customer organizations to drive on-time delivery and resolve escalations

  • Build relationships and operating with credibility across senior stakeholders in multiple functions

  • Take on additional program management initiatives across product operations as priorities evolve, bringing consistent rigor and cross-functional coordination to a range of work

Additional Job Responsibilities:

  • Own programs with direct, measurable impact on customer retention and revenue

  • Operate at the intersection of product and commercial organizations with high visibility to senior leadership

  • You'll have broad exposure across Product Management, with the opportunity to contribute to a variety of programs

  • You'll be building something - this is an emerging function with real opportunity to grow and influence

Expected Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 7+ years of professional experience in program management, product operations, or a related field

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-functional programs with multiple senior stakeholders

  • Strong cross-functional influence with excellent communication skills across different audiences and organizational levels

  • Experience working at the intersection of product and commercial teams, preferably in healthcare or B2B SaaS

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a track record of bringing structure to ambiguous environments

  • Comfortable operating independently and making sound judgment calls without close supervision

  • Travel 10% - annual offsites (conferences, customer events, etc.)

Expected Compensation

$121,000 - $205,000
