They operate in an exciting space, delivering innovations like clean hydrogen and carbon capture systems that are critical to the energy transition and sustaining our planet. Joining their dynamic culture means building a limitless career where your work reaches beyond your job description to better your team, the communities served, and the world.

About the Role

Are you a senior Data Engineering/Architecture expert looking to step into a formal management position, or an up-and-coming Lead ready to build a modern data architecture ground-up?

In this hybrid leadership/hands-on role, you will lead our organization’s shift into next-generation cloud analytics. You will evaluate our current state across legacy and modern systems, map out the strategic architecture roadmap, and drive our adoption of Microsoft Fabric and AI capabilities.

This is an exceptional growth opportunity: you will oversee 1 direct report and receive direct coaching/mentorship from executive IT leadership while maintaining a high degree of technical ownership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect the Future State: Assess the existing data warehouse, integration patterns, and system interactions to develop a current-state blueprint and map out our future-state data roadmap.
  • Lead the Modernization: Drive the architecture, implementation, and integration of Microsoft Fabric and emerging AI tools into our data ecosystem.
  • Pipeline Engineering: Design, build, and optimize scalable ETL/ELT pipelines across modern cloud platforms (Apache Spark, Azure, Microsoft Fabric) and existing SQL environments.
  • Maintain & Modernize Legacy: Support current database infrastructures (SQL Server, SSIS, job scheduling) while systematically migrating and modernizing operations to the cloud.
  • Data Delivery & Analytics: Enable business intelligence, reporting, and dashboarding needs (Power BI) across cross-functional units.
  • Data Governance & Quality: Establish solid practices for data cataloging, lineage, compliance, security, and data management standards.

What Makes You a Great Fit?

Must-Have Experience:

  • Hands-on Technical Depth: 8–10+ years of progressive hands-on experience in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, or Senior Data Analysis (or 5+ years with recent Lead/Management experience).
  • Microsoft Fabric & Modern Cloud: Proven hands-on experience or working expertise with Microsoft Fabric, Apache Spark, and cloud data platforms (Azure preferred).
  • Strong SQL Core: Deep expertise in SQL Server, database development, indexing, job scheduling, and performance tuning, alongside SSIS/Visual Studio.
  • Programming Proficiency: Proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or Scala.
  • Mindset: An entrepreneurial, problem-solving attitude—comfortable acting as both the technical architect and the practical executor.

Nice-to-Have Experience:

  • Data Governance & Management: Experience establishing data lineage, cataloging, and quality frameworks.
  • Reporting/BI: Hands-on build experience with Power BI dashboards and semantic models.
  • Emerging Tech: Exposure to streaming platforms, DevOps, CI/CD, and AI integration.

Why You Should Apply

  • The Best of Both Worlds: Gain leadership titles and management credentials while maintaining your core technical edge.
  • Executive Mentorship: Direct backing and management coaching from executive IT leadership to set you up for long-term career growth.
  • High-Impact Project: High visibility ground-floor initiative to shape the enterprise's long-term Microsoft Fabric & AI strategy.
  • Stability & Benefits: Competitive compensation, robust bonus structure, and top-tier pension plans.

Logistics & Compensation

  • Location/Work Mode: 5 days Onsite in Mississauga, ON, Canada.
  • Employment Type: Full-time.
  • Compensation: $100,000 to $120,000 base salary + 12% Variable Compensation (VC) bonus.
