The Role
Our client, a global engineering and manufacturing company, is seeking a Procurement Manager to lead and further develop the Procurement and Logistics function in the United States. This is a hands-on leadership role with both strategic and operational responsibility.
In the early phase, you will focus on establishing and strengthening a professional procurement organization in the U.S., with support from experienced international colleagues. You will guide and develop the local purchasing team while implementing processes, tools, and performance standards aligned with global best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the U.S. Procurement & Logistics function, including Purchasing, Logistics, and Service Inventory
Partner closely with Production to ensure smooth material flow and on-time shipping
Oversee both operational and strategic purchasing to secure high-quality components at competitive cost and lead times
Develop and implement procurement processes, policies, KPIs, and performance metrics
Source, evaluate, and negotiate with domestic and international suppliers; manage contracts and framework agreements
Apply Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) principles in supplier selection and negotiations
Manage supplier governance, including NDAs, supplier codes of conduct, framework agreements, and ongoing contract compliance
Monitor and improve supplier quality, inventory levels, delivery performance, and transportation costs
Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations and optimize freight agreements
Collaborate with global procurement teams across Europe and the UK
Utilize and optimize ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics AX / D365), including master data management
Supervise, coach, and develop procurement team members
Support sustainability initiatives, cost-reduction programs, and make-vs-buy analyses
Qualifications
Bachelorโs degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field
3+ years of experience as a Senior Buyer / Senior Purchaser in a manufacturing or engineered-products environment
Prior experience leading or supervising a small team
Strong technical understanding and experience with complex products
Hands-on background in logistics, shipping, and inventory management
Proficiency with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics AX / Dynamics 365
Strong supplier negotiation and stakeholder management skills
Experience working within an international, matrixed organization
Willingness to travel up to 30 days per year
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $85,000 โ $100,000
