Job description

Protecting what matters most is the mission that matters most.
Space is a critical domain, connecting our technologies, our security and our humanity. While others view space as a destination, we see it as a realm of possibilities, where we can do more- we can innovate, invest, inspire and integrate our capabilities to transform the future.
At Lockheed Martin Space, we aim to harness the full potential of space to cultivate innovation, reduce costs, and push the boundaries of what technology can achieve. We're creating future-ready solutions, focusing on resiliency and urgency through our 21st Century Security vision. We're erasing boundaries and forming partnerships across industries and around the world. We're advancing spacecraft and the workforce to fuel the next generation. And we're reimagining how space can connect us, ensuring security and prosperity. Join us in shaping a new era in space and find a career that's built for you.
Lockheed Martin Space in Cape Canaveral, FL seeks a Manufacturing Planning Manager to join our mission and lead a diverse team of shop floor controllers, material requirements planners, and consumable leads supporting the Orion/Artemis programs. Lockheed Martin is the prime contractor building the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, NASA's first spacecraft designed for long-duration, human-rated deep space exploration. Orion will transport humans to interplanetary destinations beyond low Earth orbit, such as asteroids, the moon and eventually Mars, and return them safely back to Earth.
The Assembly, Test, and Launch Operations (ATLO) organization is responsible for the final build-up, test, and launch operations support of our spacecraft. Collaborating with your leadership counterparts in program, planning, quality, engineering, prod ops, test, and ATLO, you will ensure teams are set up to meet production schedule commitments to the customer. As the manager, you will be responsible for directing your team through day-to-day activities.
In this role, you will...
Lead and develop a team of up to 20 material requirements planners (MRP)s, shop floor controllers, and consumables leads
Provide management responsibilities including performance management and training
Oversee all work performed by your team to meet operational commitments
Team with program customers early in the lifecycle to drive efficiency and standardization for production planning processes
Ensure demand is loaded and maintained accurately and utilize KPI metrics to ensure team is working in alignment to production planning processes and requirements
Engage with ATLO, Program, and Production Planning leadership to ensure strategic goals and initiatives are progressing to plan
Communicate material status, issues, potential scheduling impacts, and path forward plans to multiple levels of the organization as well as to ATLO and program stakeholders
Perform look ahead analysis to proactively manage potential upcoming conflicts and obstacles in order to minimize any impact on hardware delivery
Drive solutions and improvements for planning obstacles and help standardize these improvements across the planning team
